MMPI-2 test...q's LONG

hello everyone, right now I am beside myself not knowing what to do. I just

received my psych test and not so sure that it is good...not sure if it will

keep me from having surgery, but not only that, I am not so sure that I

agree with the findings of this MMPI-2 test! I am confused and not sure how

to take this...can anyone who has had their psych test help??

In the " Evaluation of test scores " :

PSYCHOLOGICAL ADJUSTMENT: Validity Scales of the MMPI-2 indicate a valid

test response and an accurate self-reported appraisal of the individual's

personality functioning. Elevated clinical scales indicate moderate to

severe psychological adjustment problems.

Individuals with similar MMPI-2 profiles do not seem to fit into their

environments. They are seen by others as odd or peculiar. They are

nonconforming and resentful of authority. Their behavior may be erratic and

unpredictable and they may have problems with impulse control. They tend to

be angry, irritable and resentful.

Individuals with similar MMPI-2 profiles harbor deep feelings of

insecurity and they have exaggerated needs for attention and affection. They

have poor self concepts and it seems as if they set themselves up for

rejection and failure. They have periods during which they become obsessed

with suicidal ideation. These individuals are distrustful of other people

and they avoid close relationships. They lack basic social skills and tend

to be socially withdrawn and isolated. The world is seen as a threatening

and rejecting place.

First of all, I DO NOT consider myself as a angry person or resentful. And

second I AM NOT OBSESSED with suicidal ideation!!!! I do not go looking for

attention and I DO NOT lack basic social skills!! If I did, I DAMN SURE

would not be working in a 5 star Preferred HOtel resort!! OR an EMT! I am

confused by these findings and not sure if this will keep me from having

surgery...

BUT later in the letter he states that there are " No specific factors were

made evident during this evaluation that would interfere with compliance "

and then goes to state " Ms. Blanshan reported that she has problems with

depression related to her weight problems and difficulties dealing with

possible residual issues associated with her childhood. The MMPI-2 profile

also indicates moderate to significant affective, interpersonal and

cognitive adjustment problems. It is recommended that Ms. Blanshan consider

seeking outpatient mental health services at this time to address noted

psychological adjustment problems. Her functional skills appear to be in the

normal range of functioning despite the severity of clinical symptoms. She

is capable of holding a full time job and demonstrating follow through with

pre-surgical requirements. A trial of individual trial of psychotherapy

services may be helpful while she is waiting for Bariatric surgery and would

assist in assuring that she be considered a good candidate for the procedure

in terms of psychological issues. "

I am not sure how to take this whole report! I am confused!! The test is

saying one thing, however my daily life is saying another..I have done

nothing but cry over this since I received it in the mail! Is this a common

eval or can someone out there give me some insight to this?? You can do it

privately to me @ stephs_dolphin@... . I don't know if I throw

in the towel now, that I am not going to have surgery due to I am a " closet "

head case, or if it is not as bad as I am taking it and that I am reading

too much into it...Someone help.....PLEASE??
