Fighting candida on SCD

Hi all,

I have had a candida problem since i had to have a short course of predfoam

enemas about 3 weeks ago. I was wondering if it is thought OK to use Diflucan or

similar to fight it while on SCD. I am still pretty near a BTVC 'intro' diet and

having tried a strict anti-candida diet over the last week I can see that it

would be a real struggle to keep this up for any length of time considering how

basic my diet already is.

I'd appreciate your advice on this.

I never have, so someone else could probably give you more info on that.. So when I found out I had candida a week or two ago, I knew the carrots and bananas had to go, but that would leave me with only applesauce and zucchini. Not good. What I'm personally doing is introducing non-yeasty fruits and veggies as quickly as the 'one every 3-4 days' schedule will allow. As soon as I get enough foods to replace all the carrots and bananas I was eating, then I'll probably stop eating them. Meanwhile, I've been eating a lot of VCO, and I just recently started taking raw crushed garlic to fight the candida. Plus, it's good for you anyways, and natural =) Pour Dieu, pour terre,Alyssa 15UC April 2008, diagnosed Sept 2008SCD June 2009 (restarted)No meds except for the stupid iron pill I have to take that is SO illegal

Hi Mike,

Here’s what I am doing  to battle candida:

I am eating low carb (no honey, etc)

I am taking Saccharomyces boulardii (from KirkmanLabs.com) once

a day on an empty stomach (which means 1st thing in the a.m.). S. boulardii

is a beneficial yeast which will not colonize. According to Marilyn “it

eats candida for lunch”.

I am either eating the SCD yogurt daily or taking an acidophilus

capsule daily.

I am taking small amounts of Lauricidin daily (like ¼ tsp.

2x/day). It is a very strong anti-bacterial, anti-viral & anti-fungal. High

potency. It also kills candida. Lauricidin.com  I spoke to the lab tech at

Chem-Labs where it is made and it is SCD compliant. It is simply monolaurin

from coconut, no fillers. It looks like tiny pieces of Styrofoam. The data on

what it kills (in a lab setting) is impressive.

Coconut oil is highly recommended for its anti-microbial &

anti-fungal properties. I cook with it, I eat it over vegetables or in a

smoothie.

I also have on hand some Grapefruit Seed Extract, though I haven’t

tried it yet.

Garlic, if you can tolerate it, is also good.

I have no experience with Diflucan, perhaps others can chime in.

Needed medications are not SCD-illegal. You'll want to up your

legal probiotics while doing this.

Hi Mike,I'm in the same position but I take steroids as well. And they contribute to Candida overgrowth. So now I'm starting Diflucan because nothing else helps.I'm on a very limited diet for a 1 1/2 year, extremely low carb SCD. But sometimes that's not enough.

I'm taking S. Boulardii 3x daily and it does changes thing but still it's not enough. Oil of oregano is very helpful tooAnd of course as everyone else already told coconut oil is great! But sometimes we need meds as well. Sad but true.

Take careYanaUCSCD since March 2008
