PJ,

You and I are going along hand in hand when it comes to this diet. We are following almost the same schedule for good and bad, and we started the diet around the same time.

I noticed the mushy you are talking about over the past week. I went back to not eating any new foods, stuck with things I knew my body could handle very early on, and tried to eat alot more meat rather than veggies, nut flours, eggs, ect. I do eat alot of DCCC and I cut back on that too. Seems to be helping slightly but I still have mush or "pellets" all of the time. I think it's a plateu and not a slide in the wrong direction.

I'm pretty sure you've been relatively fine for the past few months like I have. Keep in mind we have to take a few steps backward in order to move forward on this diet.

Someone else was referring to a 6 month flare, so maybe that's what we are in? I'm just going to do what i've been doing and not worry too much.

I did notice when I get EXTREMELY stressed out ( like a loss in the family, ect.) that I flare pretty bad. Not sure if anything like that happened with you or not though.

Keep me updated and i'll let you know when this passes for me!-UC - 1 yearSCD - 3.5 months 100% strict and 4 months restricted diet.Asacol - 4 pills 3 times a day - hopefully scd will help me get off these! No more Hydrocortisone or Prednisone!

I'm going to add to the BM discussions here :) I'm almost at 6 months SCD- no illegals! In general things are going really well- thankfully. I got to the point where I got to see those trophies everyone talks about. Now, for the past few days, it's all mushy. Not D. but mush. No other symptoms, but I don't want a turn around. To you "old timers"- do you have variations? I don't want to be backsliding. Any suggestions would be helpful. I haven't really added new foods recently to any extent. I do notice more mushiness when I eat more veggies- but I still eat them cooked, and not a ton of them. If I don't eat any, then I get a little C.I wish I knew what "normal" was. I've looked at the picture charts, and also read about "fiber menace" which says they should be a little on the soft side, but not sure what we want to achieve here. Thanks,PJ

I frankly think there is always variation - at least IME.

Here is a BM chart.

You are aiming for 4.

Thanks, I guess I'm somewhere in between a 4.5 and 5.5 on this chart, not too

bad. Is there a 6 month flare? I know there are peaks and valleys the first

years on SCD.

Yes, , my Dad has been very sick recently, so that also may explain this in

part. He is 86 so when he gets sick, it's always a scare for me.

But he has had medical scares before I started SCD, and things are much better

on SCD than not on it.

I think I will go back to soup and light foods for a few days. Like you, I have

done the soup thing so many times, it's like yuk, but the bone broths are so

helpful. Here's to our recovery :)

Thanks,

PJ
