Hi Everyone !

I recently found two books that have helped to plan my high protein

diet that is so essential to all DS patients. They retail at $7.50

each, but I bought them through Amazon.com for just over $11 for both

including shipping.

The Complete Book of Food Counts

by, Corinne T. Netzer

Fifth Edition

This book is great. It is a table of all kinds of foods, unprepared,

frozen & boxed entrees, as well as some restaurant and fast food

selections. The table gives serving sizes, calories, carbohydrates,

cholesterol, fat, fiber, sodium, and most importantly, protein

counts. The book has helped me to choose foods with more concentrated

protein levels and I even found sources of protein that I hadn't

known before.

Protein Power

by, R. Eades, MD & Dan Eades, MD

Protein Power is a guide to a High Protein/Low Carbohydrate way to

lose weight, feel fit, and boost your health. The authors teach

readers lessons about the value of eating a high protein diet just as

our DS Surgeons require us to eat. There is a lot of interesting

information and a section that offers some great recipes, such as the

Smoothie recipe I posted earlier.
