I had to pay a physician to write a letter to the ins co for me. Last doctor's appointment I had I ask then and there for a release of information consent and signed it. That will cover you for any and all records you want to go somewhere, whether to you or to other doctors. They can just as easily send them to the doc you want, and it wouldn't cost any money because they don't have to copy them.
