Guest guest
Yeah, and for mine he used cocaine ointment to pass the tube through my nose. Afterward I was telling everyone, I used cocaine! I used cocaine! Apparently the endoscopy staff was quite entertained. But I have to say, if I felt any discomfort I sure didn't remember it. I had previously had the hilar nodes biopsied by a mediastinoscopy, where your head is bent back with your shoulders elevated on a towel so that they can make a nice incision in your neck & poke down behind the sternum. When I woke up from that, I was very sore, for several days. I'd take the lung biopsy by bronchoscopy any day, plus they can also rule out other lung diseases. I know that you are really sick right now and it takes a lot for you to answer. Unfortunately, they did not do a biopsy. The hilar node that is the biggest is in an area that is too risky to try to get to. It would take a thoracotomy to get to it, then it is near a major vessel and major nerve. So for now, biopsy of the node is out. Did your pulmonologist do a bronchoscopy? If not, I'd be requesting one. When I was first dx with sarc, it started as bilateral iritis (inflammation of the iris' in both eyes--and I couldn't breath. The first test the pulm did was the bronchoscopy--he thought from the xray that I had an 80% chance of lung cancer. I'd just turned 34--so that was sucky. My son was 7. But it was with the bronch that they were able to check both the lungs and the nodes all around my lungs--and we got way too many biopsies. All positive for sarc. Since you're having breathing difficulties--she if she'll budge on this. It would make your life getting this dx so much easier, and it's not a bad test to have done--Versed is great!Hugs,Tracie ~~~~ *** ~~~ *** ~~~ *** ~~~~The Neurosarcoidosis CommunityNS CHAT:- Has been cancelled for now.Message Archives:-http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Neurosarcoidosis/messagesMembers Database:-Listings of locations, phone numbers, and instant messengers.http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Neurosarcoidosis/database
