Slowly I am learning some things are just not for *me*.. Takes patience and time realizing this and being at peace with sucha notion. > > How long can Kefir grains sit around and last? > > Jodi > Well, let's see now.....all kefir grains alive now come from the original batch that sprang up naturally in someone's milk bucket about 2,000 years ago. More info on Dom's site at http://users.chariot.net.au/~dna/kefirpage.html Very helpful source of info for me in getting re-started after my first failures with commercial kefir culture and an attempt to use strained kefir as a starter and using a yogurt maker to short cut the kitchen cabinet *culture cave.* Kefir is now the mainstay of my diet. I have put on a *milk tummy*, but hey, it is better than being a skeleton in a box in the ground any day :-) Ann
