My wife, , had her surgery today at 10:45am, and was in for

around two hours. She did 'exceptionally well', and her surgeon, Dr.

Y. Marcus of Silver Spring, MD successfully completed her

Biliopancreatic Diversion with Duodenal Switch. (BPD-DS)

She's in the ICU at Holy Cross Hospital and pretty well drugged up [:-

)] but is in very good spirits as she has been all day, despite a

little pain.

One thing I will note: and I met with Dr. Marcus at his

office late yesterday afternoon to discuss last minute questions and

concerns - time which Dr. Marcus agreed was very well spent. We even

uncovered other relevant information which never came up during other

appointments.

He was able to place us both very much at ease, and I can tell you

from both the patient's and support person's perspective, that's a

hugely important attribute in going into all this. If Dr. M. and

company can fit you in, I highly recommend a last pre-op meeting to

talk about concerns and any changed information. We were kind of

suprised to read and hear that some patients see their surgeon

initally, and then never during the approval process until the day of

surgery!

So, now that she's in excellent hands, *this* support person is gonna

go get some sleep. Some folks have said I may need during her

upcoming recovery.
