Guest guest
My ASD son is gfcf for 9 mos. He's been on the HZP for about 7 mos. My 4 yr old was the one with the bad breath problem; that went away though with the HZP. I do believe we gave the Pep somewhere around a month's time (the AFP too). They were still urinating excessively; not all the time, but pretty regularly. Neither is trained (my 4 yr old is getting there) & my ASD son is non verbal so it concerns me how it might have been affecting the bladder. The hyperness etc never really went away either; I remember the verbal stimming getting much worse during that time. Thanks, Michele In a message dated 7/18/02 3:42:48 PM Eastern Daylight Time, david_j_mead@... writes: << Michele-how long did you try the Pep? It took my daughter about a month to level out from the regression(and she was already gfcf) and she did have excess urination but it,too stopped. You mentioned the bad breath-are your children gfcf? I know that bad breath can be an allergy/sinus symptom so maybe your child is allergic to dairy but the Pep is getting rid of the dairy problem for you. Just a thought. >>

Guest guest
-Michele-are you giving any supplements(like DMG or SNT??) My daughter was very hyper until I quit the supplements once starting enzymes. Maybe its a withdrawl from something other than gluten or casein-I am pretty sure my daughter had a withdrawl from soy. Its possible of course that they can't tolerate the Pep for some reason but they may just still be adjusting. It took my daughter a good month. -- In @y..., hugsfam5@c... wrote: > My ASD son is gfcf for 9 mos. He's been on the HZP for about 7 mos. Guest guest
Yes, he has TMG & has had it for years. He has it with added folic acid for hyperness. Nothing really has ever helped calm him down or decrease stim. I tried many months ago, after about a month on enzymes, to cut out tmg & it didn't change anything. I brought it back & again the only changes it seems to help him with are mood & sleep - but the diet has seemed to help his sleep improve more we believe. I'm always nervous to take him off tmg because then it's a struggle easing him back onto his dosage. He has 4 caps/day now (non flavored/caps from Kirkmans) & his nutritionist thinks we can go up a lot more to see if it helps language. It never has though so I'm not sure whether to do that since it might exaserbate his problems with hyperactivity & stimming. I've heard once on enzymes some children have not needed tmg, but again I'm not sure whether to experiment right now; particularly because we've just started Sacc B this week & it will take a while for me to ease him onto the proper dosage since he's so sensitive. I thought maybe I should leave everything else " as is " for now. Then see if your child still needs them. Dana
