Hi Kathy, I was concerned about the sleep thing too because I have had insomnia (waking throughout the night and tired all day) for many years and suspect I have sleep apnea but no doctor will test me because I'm "not fat enough". I did try LDN though and from the first night at 1.5 mg I slept better. I woke up but went right back to sleep and felt great in the morning. I'm now at 4.5 mg and sleep really well. The LDN did cause some nausea, mild, the first 10 days or so and I was very sleepy when inactive but now, after more than a month I feel great and the Crohn's feels even better. I would recommend it for anyone with insomnia.

n,Thanks so much for your response. The only reason I hesitate with LDN is that I also have a huge sleep disorder. I've struggled with insomnia since childhood and am afraid the LDN would only make the sleep situation worse. Just in case I ever try it though, could you tell me how much you take? Thanks.KathyCD 10/08SCD 7 months

I don't know about the mucus thing, or the specific cause of nausea -- and maybe this isn't much help to you -- but nausea is a fairly common side-effect of Crohn's. I used to get it regularly. But at least you know it's not a weird side effect that only you are getting. :-) Mucus in the throat, and general throat/sinus problems are also frequently-effects of a messed up immune system, and Crohn's is an auto-immune disease. That's why I would suggest that you take LDN along with the diet; it will almost certainly help normalize your immune system. I myself have had immune-related frequent sore throats, ear problems, etc., over the years. (Some people insist Crohn's is not an auto-immune condition, but I haven't seen what I think is good evidence to back that up.)

n, Crohn's since 1980
