A TWIST IN THE TALE

well, it's official. my may 11th date if off. i tested positive for h.

pylori (the bacteria that is the precursor for ulcers) and mt. sinai

won't proceed with out a negative result. so i'm on antibiotic and can

be retested 3 weeks after i finish, which would be four weeks from

today. my surgery was in two weeks, so there you go.

the new date they gave me: july 30th. three months away. i am on the

on call list so i am sure to be called early. my family is ready to go

on a moment's notice. so four weeks till i can be retested, another

week to submit to insurance (mt. sinai won't do this until i get the

negative test result) and for approval (my insurance said 72 hours max

for approval) and then i can be available to be called.

at first i was crushed crushed crushed, crushed down to a big wet pile

of snot and tears, but i have let go of the devastation and i am MOVING

ON! so i have to wait a little longer, big whoop. it would have been

nice to have surgery in two weeks, but 5 weeks will do. i am confident

that i will be called in june. this will give me more time to break in

my new pajamas for the hospital. i refuse to let this sap my

enthusiasm. my mantra remains strong, 'CUT ME!!'

there must be a reason for this. what, i may never know, but things are

working out as they should so i will be patient.

but i WILL bitch about the gatroenterologist's office because it is

their fault that my date was blown. i've never seen such an incredible

bunch of liars, foot draggers and jackasses. from the day i called

them, three weeks to get a consult then three more for the endoscopy.

then a week for results when they promised them in a day, then three

days later they still hadn't faxed my results to mt. sinai. i had to

pick them up and do it myself. now they are making me have another

consult before they will retest, and even though only a breath test is

required, they will probably make me have another endoscopy. creeps,

creeps down to the bone. but i won't let them stand in my way this

time.

so, dee, i guess i'll get to meet you at that may meeting! coolio.
