How well and how quickly does your dr's office respond to calls

Hi everyone,

I'm new to this group and almost 4 weeks post-op and

30+ pounds down. With a BMI of 60 my Dr. Gagner

chose to do the surgery in two stages, and I've only

had the first (the " sleeve " stomach reduction). He

wants me to wait until the fall to have the DS itself.

Let me first say how much I appreciate this group,

your

update, your support of each other, your practical

advice.

Jill K mentions back pain in her message from this

morning and she also says the following:

" I still ache now 11 days post-op and I cannot get

in touch with my surgeons office. They never call

back

even though I have been leaving messages since Friday

at 6 am (I also have other questions for them about

meds).I am a little concerned about this throbbing

back. The percoset doesnt even help. "

I can't help with ideas about the source of the

pain. Sorry. But I do share with you the frustration

in getting through to Gagner's office and getting a

return call from them. I get the feeling Gagner and

Herron are stretched to the limit with way too many

patients by now and the nurse is just too overworked.

I was kept waiting for over two hours for an

appointment last week and have often waited for

calls not returned. My favorite time was when a letter

Gagner had asked for had been faxed to the office 3x

and didn't get there 3x. Only in the course of my

4th conversation (when I finally got through) with the

nurse did she happen to mention that they had changed

their fax number.

Is this behavior typical of other dr's offices that

you folks have experienced. Can anyone tell me if

Dr. Ren's office is also like this?

Also, I wanted to thank the person who had the idea

of us getting together as a " buyer's club " of sorts to

order ADEK. But since I live far away from an urban

center (in Vermont), I'd be sad if the only way to get

the discount was through a support group meeting.

Couldn't this be available to us through an online

order the way it is to CF patients?

One last, practical request. I have a Yahoo account

where I'm limited in how much mail I can get or

save. The files that come from this listserver are so

large that I'm afraid they'll choke my account if I

want to go on vacation and not check my mail for a few

days.Would it be too much trouble for you to delete

old

messages when sending yours? Many of you do that

already and it makes saving and reading these files

so much easier.

Thanks for being there!

Eva
