Guest guest
Well, I did it; I went to see Dr. Stiles at SSF today. I was a bit tearful, regretably, after having seen her though. Although Dr. Stiles mentioned that I do not have to get down to 350, (she mentioned that getting down to 376 would be OK). She did say that I would need to go to the Lifestyles II class for four months before a surgery date would be set. Which would be great EXCEPT for the fact that she wants me to " take at least 6 months " to emotionally prepare for surgery. (she did NOT seem happy with my weight gain. And who could blame her, I'm not either!) She feels that I am using food as a means of coping, and she is absolutely right!! It's just that I am slowly beginning to feel as if I might be closer to being ready, but am disappointed to know that although I do not have to lose much weight before surgery, I still have a significant amount of time that I must wait before KP will consider doing the surgery, (2 mos shy of a whole year). Oh well, I have always beleived that their is a reason for everything that happens in this life. And, in all honesty, I know that I need to have more time to get emotionally ready for surgery, (but could I not work on being ready while attending the Lifestyle II classes?!) Oh well... By-the-way, I was so upset that I can't remember if she said the the classes were once a week, or once a month.. Anybody out there happen to know the answer? Also, does anyone know if any other Kaisers have the Lifestyle II class? (I left my house at 5:00am to ensure that I was at the KP SSF facility by 9:30!! I made GREAT time though! I actually got into SSF by 8:15, so I had a chance to relax from the commute before my appointment. And was seen earlier than my scheduled appt. Consequently, I am writing this e-mail from my Mom's home in (about 30 miles away from my home in Stockton). I should be home soon, alot sooner than when I thought that I would be!) Whereas I would not mind as much going to SSF once-a-month, once-a- week would be, I think, impossible. For one thing, the amount of time being taken away from my son each week, for another, finding someone and then PAYING them to be at my home while he is in therapy during the day... oi-vey! (Hopefully Dr. Stiles mentioned that it was a once-a-month class!) Also, what is this Lifestyles II class and what is it that they do? Thanks again for your continued support!!
