Guest guest
, I see that you haven't received too many answers yet. It may be that all those long-time post-ops are out having fun with their new lives & don't have much time to sit at their computers anymore. :-) Here's my opinion though...I agree that most over-weight people have times of depression or when they're feeling down, but so does everyone else. Yes, there have been times my weight has gotten me down. I have allowed it to hold me back from many things I've wanted to do in my life & that makes me sad. I have gone through a couple of times where I was very depressed for a while & probably should have gotten on medication, but I refused. I eventually pulled myself up out of it & got on with my life. I'm 32, never married, no kids. One of the things I want most in life is to be a wife & mom. I am HOPING that with this surgery & the weightloss it brings, I will be able to find that " Mr. Right " & have those things I long for. BUT if it doesn't, that's something I have to deal with. I'm not depending on the weightloss to make me happy. I have to make myself happy. I guess what I'm trying to say is that a person should not have WLS if they think it's going to make everything better & make he or she a happy person. There are other things than just weight that influence our happiness or unhappiness. My dr. has a WLS patient who has a bad marriage. She thought that if she lost the weight, it would be better. Well, she's lost the weight & STILL has a bad marriage. A person's true character doesn't change much, just the truth of may become more apparent, for better or worse. Hope this makes sense & helps you some. Good luck to you. Cheri > I got a call today from a friend. He said he was > concerned about this surgery.
