Guest guest
Hello Everyone, I went on my backpacking trip last week. I have posted a photo in my photo-file of my and My Da (he's 72) at 10834 ft on the top of Mount San Jacinto, above Palm Springs. It is about a 6-mile walk from the top of the Palms Springs Tram to the top of the peak. Da and I walked in about 3 miles on Tuesday afternoon and camped at Tamarack Valley. Then in the morning we went to the top of the peak, had lunch and then walked out for a total of 9+ miles on Wednesday. It has been 18 years since my last packing trip and 29 years since I had been last on the peak. When I was talking to Dr. Baggs before surgery about what I would be able to do and what activities I could expect to be able to do, I specifically asked him if I would be able to go backpacking again. He said yes. And boy was he right! I'm sure you can imagine the awesome feeling of being able to once again do things that you thought were forever lost to you. I'm just over the moon! Oh and when I arrived at the folks house on 7/22 I was a size 16 and when I came home on the 29th, I am a size 14. WOOHOO!!
