Does this mean I am going to have to stay on the antibiotics indefinitely? As I take other treatments for my eyes I hadn't realised the oxytetracycline helped them as well. Gill, you have to ask your ophthalmologist. It depends on your eye exam, history, symptoms, length of time on tetracycline, etc. I'm not very knowledgable about ocular rosacea, and the only case I know is my own so listen to your eye doctor and not me. But from what I know most people do really well with an extended (but limited) course of oral antibiotics, tetracycline or another type, with or without eye drops to help with dryness and other symptoms. I don't know about clinical experience with antibiotics in ophthalmic solution/drops vs oral antibiotics for managing ocular rosacea. Good luck. Guest guest
Hi Virgina, I have used much antibiotics every year due recurring digestive infection. I took amoxicilin, clarithromicin and Levaquin as I remember. By the way some people may develop pancreatitis attack using the same drug that for others people cause nothing. Check with your doc, please. All the best, Liane > What antibiotics are safe to take without causing a > pancreatitis attack? Guest guest
Hi, Often, when you start antibiotics you initially feel worse from what's called the Hexheimer reaction, which is caused by the presence of dead bacteria. The symptoms can resemble those of hyperthryoidism and generally last a few days.

Guest guest
Kristi - This is an interesting thought! I had sinus infection a few weeks ago. Despite laying in bed for a couple days, I was having hyper symptoms. It was only during while I was ill, and I was also on antibiotics at the time. I knew the hyper symptoms were somehow related to being sick, but I didn't think about a connection with antibiotics. So yes, I've had the same problem. But don't know if it's antibiotic-related or just illness-related. Antibiotics > Hi all, > Has anyone noticed an increase in hyper symptoms while on antibiotics? I have been having some symptoms starting the day after starting the antibiotics. It seems too sudden to be actually moving into hyper. It feels the way I feel with a dose change (MMI), but I haven't changed my dose. Anyway, just wondered if anyone else had this problem before. > Thanks, > Kristi > > >

Guest guest
, I woke up this morning and feel fine...no more shakes or rapid heart beat. I don't know what's going on, but I do think it's related to being sick. I am not having any other hyper symptoms like enlarged goiter or anything. I'm starting to wonder if it was the dinner I ate on Saturday night. I had Outback Steakhouse and there did seem to be a lot of salt on everything. Who knows, huh? Thanks for responding. at least I know it's a possibility. It always makes me feel better to know someone had a similar experience. Guest guest
Wow, Elaine, I must say you just blow my mind with all of the information you have! I think this must be what was happening because today I woke up feeling OK. I really didn't think it was me going hyper again, because it was so sudden and I didn't have any other of the usual symptoms. Thanks for the info! Guest guest
I to have had two boughts of illness in the last 2 months, one time I felt hyper, and restless and very ill, but did not have antiobiotics, (flu, vomit and the works, very fun stuff), the second time was horrible cold and strep throat kind of stuff that I had antiobiotics with, antibiotics worked wonders, no problems with hyper, restless feeling this time Jen M Antibiotics > > > > Hi all, > > Has anyone noticed an increase in hyper symptoms while on antibiotics? Guest guest
Hi Dana, I'm concerned about anyone using antibiotics to treat viruses. They are not appropriate at all--in fact the antibiotics don't do a thing with viruses. Yet doctors keep prescribing them, and all I ever hear is it's " because the patient demands it " . I think that's very irresponsible of the doctor, personally. Taking unnecessary antibiotics has both micro and macro ramifications. On the personal level, if your body gets too many of them, you risk not responding if you do get a serious infection that requires them, you risk getting all sorts of yucky side-effects such as vaginal yeast infections and gut problems. On the macro side, you risk causing a mutated organism to develop that will not be treatable by the antibiotic again (as witness all the stories of super-bugs lately). And from personal experience with my oldest 'child' (who's now 31), you risk developing allergies to the antibiotics in future. She had ear infections...I let them treat her with round after round of antibiotics, and now she's allergic to most of them. For me that's worrisome--if I was allergic to antibiotics I'd be dead now, after a massive post-partum infection after my last baby. Sorry to lecture (and I may be all wet about my interpretation of your post), but I feel strongly about this. Also, most viruses and many less-serious infections are easily treated with Chinese herbal medicine in my experience, and other non-allopathic medical modalities in other group members' experience, as well. Well worth exploring! Guest guest
Hi Terry! No need to apologize, good information is always worth sharing! Perhaps I mis-stated-I was merely trying to point out that over that past fews years that I have developed so many allergies. I agree that there " over kill in using a antibiotics " . Altho, I also have personal experience that some drs. classify anything/most things that they can't exactly identify, as viral. I am sure, in agreement with your statements, that some of my allergies developed from the overuse of medications, specifically anitbiotics-unfortunately. I also must be very wary about Chinese medicins/herbal products, as my system is also sensitive to many of these. I found what works best for me, for the most part, are vitamins and foods (ex. bronchitis-honey, garlic, and lemon tea) As far as viruses, I know they typically have to run their course, and antibiotics have little to no use. Perhaps some day soon they will develop more anti-virals, that will help diminish many more viruses. I thank-you for sharing your wealth of knowledge! Guest guest
Here I thought I had a sinus infection when all it was that our heat pump was going bad. We had to have the service people out to fix it, and also need to clean the ducts as they hold pollen, mold, dirt etc. It makes abig difference and the antibiotics was not making me any better, so I stopped taking them and even though I have drainage I feel better off of them! -- JH Celiac SprueSCD- 4+ years " Strength does not come from winningYour struggles develop your strength.
