Back in the old days when I was a kid and helping Mama can things,

they always said to sterilize the jars. But once dishwashers came

in, we just sterilized them in the dishwasher. If you have the water

turned down too low, I guess this wouldn't work, but a good trip

through the dishwasher and a rinse in boiling water from the

teakettle ought to take care of about any buggies.
