If you go for an MRI, ask your doctor to tell them to image your entire spine. Hope this helps! ~Sandy

Guest guest
I also have a lot of pain in that part of my back. Have no idea why. Have not had a spinal MRI though. It started about a year before surgery, my doctor at the time blew it off as bad posture. Now they are saying it might be RSD, but I don't think so. If you find out what your cause is, let me know. a in WA Back Pain > Hi, i have several questions that i hope someone can give me some > in-put!! Guest guest
My pain is from degenerative disk disease. Maybe you should get X-rays done. I have it in 3 places, one is my neck. From: Jerri Sent: Friday, July 09, 2004 6:03 AM To: LUPIES Subject: Back Pain Anyway, does anyone here have back problems connected with Lupus? If so, what do you do to help? I've been taking Lortab and Flexeril....but those don't even touch it. If this is Lupus related I just don't want to have to go thru the MRI's and ortho crap just to find out it's a Lupie thing. Does prednisone help? (I'm only on Jerri

Guest guest
Hi jerri I do get terrible back pain. Although between my rheumy and my neurologist, they cant seem to figure out whats going on. My bones have been showing changes so it could be that, or it could be some kind of nerve thing. I guess the best thing to do is go through with the testing even though its frustrating. Sometimes you'll get an answer and if so, an appropriate and helpful treatment. Especially since your meds dont seem to be helping. Good luck and I'll be thinking of oyu. meg

Guest guest
Jeanne, do you still have your gallbladder? GB disease can cause severe back pain. Now most people also have pain under the right ribcage or beneath the sternum, but I only had the back pain. Sometimes it was associated with eating, but other times just came from nowhere. Apparently I had one large stone that would shift & block the bile duct, causing pain, then it would move & the pain would subside. If you have lost your beloved gallbladder, it still could be related to your GI tract. But whatever is causing it, you need to get checked out and the best time is during an episode. Don't worry about what the E.R. docs or your family doc will think; your job is to take care of yourself. Right? Right! Ramblin' Rose Moderator Reply-To: Neurosarcoidosis To: Neurosarcoidosis Subject: Prayers needed... and a questionDate: Sat, 22 Apr 2006 22:05:50 -0700 (PDT) Hi everyone, Earlier today I received a call from our "church lady." One of our young men from church is stationed over in Iraq. Apparently sometime today (?) he was involved in an explosion at a nearby police station. has a serious concussion and they have him heavily sedated; two of his friends are in critical condition. 's mom was in such shock when she received the call that she didn't think to ask a lot of questions, but she was told he should be "all right." She was told, however, they don't know if he will have any permanent damage to his hearing, or if he'll be permanently affected in any other way. Of course, we all surmise that he will have permanent scars in his memory from the explosion and also from seeing his friends be injured so badly. Please pray for and his friends. holds a special place in my heart because he had been one of my Sunday school students for a couple of years, and I really, really like him. He's one of my favorite kids (I call him "kid," but he's probably 20 or so by now). We are hoping that he will get to come home, but we don't know if he will or, if he does, for how long. Our assumption, of course, is that at the very least he will need to have some type of trauma counseling before they can put him back out there. We all just want him to come home safely - we want that for all of our troops. God bless and protect our troops. Also - today has been a bad day... real bad. But I don't know if this is NS related or not. Every once in a while I get these stabbing pains in my chest that literally take my breath away - I can't breathe or move without excruciating pain. (Mind you, the xrays they've done in the past say my lungs are clear.) Sometimes I wake in the middle of the night with them and they bring on such fear, but if I lay still and breathe in a shallow manner, after a little while they go away. Today they started in my back while I was just sitting comfortably doing a crossword puzzle (New York Times - not Sunday edition, otherwise, I'm sure that would have been the cause! LOL!). They were stabbing sharp pains, going across my back, into my back. If I even flinched the pain was so bad that I couldn't breathe. My husband wanted to take me to the ER, but I just couldn't bear spending endless hours down there in total discomfort waiting for them to simply tell me I'm fine. I convinced him to just sit with me for a little while and see if they'd go away. Eventually they subsided, although every once in a while if I move the wrong way or try to breathe too deeply, I get them. Sometimes these pains come right under my breast bone and a couple of times I thought I was having a heart attack or something - it almost felt like I was "passing" something through my chest (they've checked me for blood clots - nothing). If you've ever had pleuracy (sp?), it kind of feels like that, or like really bad gas pain, only very specific to my chest. I've never had them across my back like that before - and I am not exaggerating - I could envision the shape of my lungs when they hit like sharp shards of glass tearing through them. When I moved or tried to breathe other than a shallow breath, I just couldn't. I'd be lying if I said I'm not frightened by them, but I honestly don't think I'm "dying." Is this something you all experience? Should I go down to the local "chop shop," as we like to call it, and let them take a look, or is this something not-so-unusual that can wait til the doc's back in the office on Monday? I'm telling you, if I go to the ER, they're not going to find anything - they never do. I always leave feeling like an idiot. And I'm actually feeling much better right now. I was getting worried there for a little while, though. Thanks so much, Jeannie Yahoo! Messenger with Voice.
