Hi...

I agree with the part that all Kaiser's are different. I am from

Riverside and it seems that we do things much differently than most

of you. I started in Sept. of last year. I got my c-pap machine in

March. I went to orientation in Feb. and then started my mandatory

classes for Kaiser in April. Right now Kaiser here and in Fontana

are requiring 24 weeks of classes before you move on. Fontana

doesn't budge at all with that, Riverside is still letting you only

do 8 weeks if you have proof of diet documentation. I finished my

classes on July 8th and was given my slips for tests...blood tests,

urine tests and chest xray. About a week later, I received the slip

to go for my EKG. I have completed all of that. I had to re-do the

24-hour urine test as they didn't perform all the tests needed on

it. That was a pain, but it is going to be worth it. I don't go

for the psych exam until I see the surgeon. Dr. Suh sends us to one

of his. I got a call from the bariatric nurse at Van Buren Med.

Offices, it is not LaTrenda anymore, it is Debbie. She is new and

just got back from a 3 week vacation and was totally clueless to my

case. She said that she was going to talk to LaTrenda and then

would call me on Monday. I think that this is the only hold up

right now. I was in such a hurry to get things done and then found

out that the earliest I could get my surgery would be Sept. Mo has

already done the scheduling for Aug. I wanted to have it in Aug. as

I work for the school district and go back to work in Sept. I then

started thinking of myself and decided that it doesn't matter when I

do it. I am going thru Crown Bariatrics and they also have alot of

pre-requirements also. I have already done the seminar and group

meetings that they require. I actually have gone to more of the

meetings as they are very helpful. They also have a pre-surgery

class that is new. It is the phys. therapist, dietician, the hosp.

coordinator and the respitory therapist. They all come in and tell

you what to expect and they answer any questions you may have. You

also get your spirometer to practicing your breathing. This was the

best class of all. I learned alot there.

Ok...I just wanted to fill you in on my journey.....hopefully this

week I will get my appt. to see the surgeon.
