Guest guest
they hooked me up to an iv, a nightmare with my veins at best, then i lay down on a table. they hooked up a small medication pump to the iv, and for 6 long minutes they pumped in this drug (can't remember the name) that made my heart pound like crazy. i felt very short of breath, like i was going to pass out, and finally started heaving trying to throw up while lying there. all this time they had me hooked up to ekg electrode things on my chest, and had a blood pressure cuff on my arm, taking pressure readings every minute or so. it was the worst feeling i have ever experienced! i felt like i could have been dying with them standing right there next to me. i hope i never have to have this test again. they said i could never have gotten my heart rate high enough on a treadmill to do the test, so they used the drug. it was only 6 minutes, but it felt like an hour! as soon as they stopped the drug, all the symptoms went away pretty quickly. i think what was so bad was that it was such a fast onset of breathlessness, it was kind of a shock to my body. not like when you start walking or running and you somewhat gradually start getting out of breath and heart rate faster. it was just BAM!, and you're there right then. like i said before, i never want to repeat this test. mary y. st. louis > In a message dated 5/17/01 8:41:04 PM Pacific Daylight Time, majy58@a... > writes: > > > > so i had to go for a non-walking > > stress test (worst test i ever had in my life!) > > what do they have you do? > > ~~* AJ *~~ > BMI 58 > NW Washington Medical > DR Heap, Richmond WA > Working on 1st appeal
