I got a call today from a friend. He said he was

concerned about this surgery. He has been on the diet

merry-go-round for a while as well. Anyway, he posed

an interesting statement, that no one has brought up

to me before.

He said he did not want me to have this surgery,

because: " he likes me the way that I am, and that he

heard that after this surgery, ones personality

changes. " Now to tell you the truth, I like that. he

was concerned for me as an individual and whatmy

personality might be like after the surgery. Cool.

My reply was that I do know some friends who have lost

alot of weight from the RNY surgery. I also do know

that their personality has changed. Ones who were

happy before the surgery, now seem quite and

depressed. I do not see that with this group. Maybe I

am being blind. But I have to ask, Those of you who

are post op, What is your experience with this? I know

that those recently post op will have some depression,

but I mean those who are a ways out. Can you help me

to undersatand this part of the surgery?

Those I have talked to personally seem to love the DS

and I don't see any real problems. But I didn't know

them before the DS, so I have nothing to compare.

I know some will say that you have to consider the

complications of being obese as to compared to

personality. I know this and have now desire to change

my mind. just would like to know how this part works

so I can reply to he correctly.
