Barbara,

I do not know how that could possibly be legal forget about

ethical. Have you called his company? That would be discrimination

and as long as you were covered on the other policy and are still

married or have no other changes than you should be covered.

Here is a web site that may have some answers:

http://www.healthinsurancefinders.com/cr_cobra_state.html

I had a bear of a time with Cobra when me ex and i got divorced. It

took along time to get the paperwork and then every month I got

canceled because my check would get sent to the agency. My RX were

always put on hold. It is better now. Hopefully it won't be too bad

since you only need it for a couple of months. Mine is really

expensive too $505.00/mo for individual coverage. I can not get

individual coverage elsewhere because of pre-existing conditions and

have no idea what I will do in two yrs. when I am booted! Can't

worry now though.

Good luck, Dawn

Barbara,

I would call your state insurance commissioner and ask. Try this link

to get the phone number for your state.

Thanks, Dawn. We were on Cobra once before and had no problems, so I was not

really worried. It is expensive---ours is $920 a month, but only for 2

months.

I will check out the link.

Thanks, . Great idea. Even better because the Kansas Insurance

Commissioner is the wife of one of my docs! I know she will help.

I second that, Barbara. You sure have enough to worry about without

needing to hassle with insurance companies. I hope it gets resolved

very quickly, and in your favor, of course.

Whew! Believe it or not, we have the problem resolved, thanks to a very

helpful HR manager in my husband's company. It WAS due to clerical error,

but the guilty party was the HR entry clerk who neglected to check vital

boxes in the COBRA application before she sent it in. Somehow comforting

that my insurance was not trying to kick me out, however much they might

like to. Thanks to all for the suggestions and support. Much appreciated.
