Guest guest
(((((((HUGS)))))))))) Alice Good luck on your cause! Things are going better here. My grandmother's dementia seems much better, so I suspect some of it was just a side effect from the surgery itself, a form of mito crash. She is pretty much back to her regular everyday level of dementia. Not psycho woman any longer. Her hip was pronounced completely healed yesterday, and the doctor seemed rather amazed! The next problem to take care of is her incontinence. It is rather bad now. We have an appt. February 7 for that, and the doctor said we could start weaning her off of us staying with her and she could go back to living by herself. He seemed to think she could do it, and also said she could probably learn to walk without the walker now, but didnt advise against it, as it could prevent future falls. I didnt recommend it either! LOL I told her the condition for her to go back to living by herself, (something she seemed deliriously happy about considering btw, as much as April and me! LOL) was that she stay on the walker. I will be checking in on her more than ever now. And will take over as her primary aide during the day once independent choices kicks in, and a friend of mine will take over the rest of the hours. But we are going to try letting her stay by herself at night. Evidently she has done remarkably well overall, considering. I knew she was, as the incision had closed completely within 3 weeks, she only had to have around 3 weeks therapy, and then they said they had done all they could for her, she was doing so well. However, we wont be allowing her to stay by herself just yet, as we have to get her incontinence issues straightened out first, and I am going to try going away for brief periods first, like an hour or two, and see how she does. She has been getting out of chairs, even difficult ones for weeks now all by herself. She just needs someone to do the cooking and more of the cleaning. But she needed someone for the cooking before anyway. Wish us luck! and a few prayers our way would be appreciated HUGS
