Hi Henry mom's

It's funny you say such a thing. My son has this new thing when

he leaves the upstairs bathroom from going in there to do anything. I figured

I would make his bathroom fun so I decorated it to look like an under water

sceen with tropical fish and everything. The only problem is that he has to

touch all the fish before leaving the bathroom, this gets real time consuming

when you are trying to get out of the house for school. The good thing is

that my son takes VERY well to change and I don't allow him to touch them

anymore but say " goodbye fishes " . Maybe something like this could work for

you.

Hugs, Terry.B

I don't know if this falls under his OCD behaviors, but in the past few

weeks my son has begun to exit a room backwards! He walks in forward but

then when he leaves he " retreats " by walking the same path backwards. It

is starting to drive me nuts! He started doing it after a recent visit

to his Great-Grandmother's house. She is on oxygen and walks around the

house with her nasal piece in her nose and her oxygen hose trailing

behind her. Well, my son would watch with great fascination the way she

would exit a room and pull her hose back in (retract it). I think he is

acting like the hose!!

Today I had all three kids in the van and forgot to drop off my youngest

at the babysitter's. I was about 5 houses past her's when I remembered,

so I drove in reverse half way down the block instead of turning around.

Well, I don't think my son will ever be the same after that

maneuver....... I'd say we're about even now!

We suffer with OCD w/both boys. The 8 year old is still cute. The 17 year

old has had to have medication. The problem is the obsessions change as they

get older and it can be overwhelming for the teenager. They suffer socially

anyhow and this makes the great divide even larger. It also makes it near

impossible for teenagers to accomplish normal goals or to even have them if

puberty intensifys the condition.

Charlene that is just too cute! , s mom, I

think it helps sharing these stories, sometimes living

with an OCD child seems surrealistic!
