Guest guest
>I have three kids with the same story from birth. The first two were born in the US while the third was born in Norway. My first, Hans Christian, cried non-stop for 2 months. Doc said he had 24 hour colic. I nursed for 2 weeks, then tried all the normal formula - Similac all kinds. At two months I tried Isomil - and the next day he slept for 2 hours - the first time. andra (now 3 1/2) started with the same crying. We were about to move to Norway 6 weeks after her birth so I gave her Isomil - beside nursing a little. I brought a 4 month supply of Isomil with me to Norway. She was a happy baby on Isomil. When I ran out I gave her Semper ( a Swedish soy milk). The screaming came back and after a week I tried Nutramigen. That worked for her. Charlotte is 10 months. When I had her and she also had the same screaming- I was telling my self " You must be wrong about the screaming " . I tried with normal formula for 3 weeks. It's stated in her papers 10 - 15 hours colic. Then I switched to Nutramigen. She quieted down a little bit - maybe down to 8 hours crying, but got terrible diaper rash. At 4 months I switched her to the swedish soymilk. She stopped crying - but after introducing only rice and corn to her at 4 1/2 and 5 1/2 months old we lost contact with her for a week last october. The only thing she had was soy, rice and corn and homemade pearjam without sugar. The next step for formula is Neocate, Neocate 1+ or ELeCare( over 1 year). She is on Neocate, and doing .... better. All these three are oil based. Neocate 1+ is the only one without some soy oil. It contains coconut oil, canola oil and safflower oil. Im working on a paper on Babyformula. Two addition. I have never seen any reaction in Hans Christian for soy or corn but I took it out of his diet in January of this year. Running just a little fewer after drinking the milk, also indicate its no good. Hugs from freezing Norway Hanne How did you know that your daughter was allergic to the soy > formulas?? did you have her tested or was it quit obvious once you started > giving it to her. > > Hugs, Terry.B > > >
Guest guest
Hello, I just joined a couple of weeks ago and I am trying to catch / keep up. I have had my 5-year old son on the diet for almost two years with good results . . . but he is still autistic. He functions at a higher level and is much healthier. Recently, I read a book by Carol Simontacchi, " The Crazymakers: How the Food Industry is Detroying Our Brains and Harming Our Children. " Ms. Simontacchi offered some alternatives and references for information if you wanted to make your own formula. She recommended you refer to Sally Fallon's book, " Nourishing Traditions. " She pretty much held the commercial formula in low regard. She asserts that the sugars, protein and minerals are wrong. She also does not like gluten and casein based foods. Check out this book. It was just published in 2000 and is very informative.
