Guest guest
Barbara, so sorry to read about your surgery problems. I know (in a way) what you expereienced as I had the first of two surgeries on my right arm/hand. They were able to untangle the nerves/tendons and doctor told my grandson (Jeff) that I should regain most of the use of my right arm/hand, but he will know more after the cast comes off my arm next week. Right now I have to hunt and peck as my left arm/hand is a cast almost to my elbow. What I thought would be simple turned out to be problematic, they gave me the block in my right arm and before they even got ready to take me to surgery my blood pressure spiked and they held off on surgery until they got me stableized, then they were afraid the block would start to wear off, but it didn't. I told Jeff to take me to the hospital early as his oldest daughter's ()maternal grandmother got my surgery dates mixed up and she scheduled a doctor appt at 8:00 and a permanent at 3:00. Besides everything else had an acheivement assembly at 1:00 so Jeff had to run back and forth taking her to and from school. When they brought me back from surgery my saturation level dropped and they had to call respiratory therapy so that made Jeff late for 's assembly, but she saw him so she didn't mind that he missed her getting her award as he got to look at it at home. He came back to see about me and when they got me up to go to the restroom my blood pressure bottomed out so I was stuck there awhile longer. I was so relieved to finally get home and my friend's 21 year old daughter came and spent the night so Jeff could get some rest. He is a surgical technician and he had gotten called in at 11:00 thursday night and didn't get to bed until 3:00 friday am, so I know he was tired, then they called him at 5:00 am saturday am. I go to doctor this afternoon about my hernia and to doctor monday to take off my cast and schedule surgery for June to do the rest of the arm/hand surgery as he had previously told my grandson that he didn't want to try woring on the nerves and fixing my thumb and wrist at the same time as the nerves required his full attention and I would have to wait until June for the second surgery. I see a hematologist the 13th as my neurologist was totally baffled about some of my labs that he had done on me. I do so hope you are doing much better by this time, my surgery and problems were very minimal to what you went thru. I will keep you in my prayers.
