My son is 6 1/2 and we started the diet on Jan 10th of this year.

He has never been diagnosed as Austistcic but does display some of the

charactertistics. His main diagnosis is an intractable ideopathic

seizure disorder.

During the first 2 -3 weeks on the diet he was much calmer!!!

Over the past several weeks he is extremely hyper and having more seizures

than usual. We have been very careful with the diet and control everything

he eats. He has recently starting flapping his hands, which he normally does

not do, and seems very " foggy. "

Any feedback would be appreciated!

Thanks,

Pam in Long Island

It sounds like he has or is eating something that he shouldn't. Once

gluten and casein have been eliminated, the smallest trace when

accidentally ingested will cause a regression. Slip-ups cause my

sons behavior to be worse than it was prior to the diet. If you're

positive he has not ingested anything or played with Play Doh, I'm

not sure what has happened. Although, I have read that the

elimination of gluten and casein can unmask other food allergies that

were " dormant " when gluten and casein were in their diet. I hope this

was helpful.
