Hi

I was going to post regarding my yeast infection, but I didn't really

want to bother the list. Since we are talking about yeast I have one I have

been trying to get under control for over a week now. It has been so long

since I have had one, but stress, run down feelings have taken their toll.

I first tried my sons pro-bio gold, cranberry from kirkmans. Used some of his

NYsatin. I bought some KEFIR with Fos. It was working except I am much

better with giving my son his vitamins and taking care of him than I am of

myself. I drink way too much coffee and not enough water. I am completely

addicted to choclate.

My question is this. Is it possible for a mother to give her child a yeast

problem from birth? Also if I have a vaginal yeast infection would it be

likely I had a systemic problem through my gut, intestines etc. I forgot how

nasty they were and I worry I haven't taken care of my sons yeast problem .

The poor thing must feel awful cause I know I do. I wish I could get a hold

of a good yeast book that explains this kind of thing. One more question is

when a female has yeast we see vaginal secretions sometimes , but what

happens with boys. ? Neither of us has any thrush or anything. I also

wonder if someone can have yeast problems for years and years and years. I

hope this isn't a stupid question. Hoping to feel better. kelly

I too always seem to get yeast infections. I am just getting over

another one right now. I also don't have any of the typical things

that cause yeast infections going on. Well, I have been going to an

acupuncturist - I decided I needed to take care of myself since I

keep not doing that and continually injure my back (stress? you bet)

Anyway - she has prescribed something for me to help with the yeast

issue, but it hasn't come in yet (she special ordered it). Hopefully

I will pick it up today and then I can let you know what it is.

One of the things you should do to help kill off the yeast is avoid

sugar - or even starches, since they turn into sugars - because this

will feed the yeast. Taking the pro-biotic is a great idea, also

drink plenty of water. I am going to try to find 100% cotton sanitary

pads at my local health food store - the stuff at the regular store

doesn't breath as well.

I have the Kirkmans product - Yeast Guard, but I can't use it since

it says specifically not to use it if you are breastfeeding. I also

understand that Colustrum helps fight yeast and the Ojibwa tea -

so.... Looks like you and I need to detox.

I will let you know when I get the herbal products from the

acupuncturist. There are homeopathic remedies, but I haven't tried

them.

Take care of you! This is terrible.

I have no ideas for you... but cranberry juice and lots of it. It is a

natural yeaster killer.

And for all you mom's out there (Dad's too) Saturday = mom sleep in day and

Sunday = dad sleep in day. I expect you all to oblige my request!

Take care

yeast infections in mommies--off

topic

Hi all mommies,

This is not a pretty topic but here goes. I have been so

run down dealing with the stress of two kids with a chronic illness and all

the difficult things I am learning. Between the stress, exhaustion, and

exposure to Kindergarten germs I have been sick all year so far! My body

feels like it has been beat up most of the time. But I keep moving. Now I

have a yeast infection (with none of the other risks factors--birth control

pill, pregnancy, pantyhose) I believe due to stress and having a run down

immune system. My body is doing everything it can to tell me to slow down

and I havent listened well. Problem: I am allergic to sorbitol in all

thosse over the counter products-- Monistat etc. Does anyone have any

other ideas, remedies? I started taking my childrens pro bio gold

yesterday. Thanks for any ideas. Also, I feel a little crampy -- is that

normal? I am only asking you guys because some one posted that yeast

problems run in autism families so I thought maybe some of you would have

experience with this. Sorry for the lovely off topic, :)

,

I did have the typical background of yeast factors (multiple pregnancies,

tetracycline as teenager for acne, birth control pills). It appears that

people with type A blood (as I have) have particulary sensitive digestive

systems. Try reading the book by Dr. D'Adamo: Eat Right for your

Blood Type (www.amazon.com has it). I have found that avoiding the no-no

foods for A blood types really does help with the bloating and pain

associated with yeast. Also, Kyolic Garlic and a product by Kirkman Labs

called EnzymeAid helps with the digestion. In addition, the lactobacillus

(good bacteria) helps. Some people seem to lack the intestinal cells needed

to breakdown foods properly and the EnzymeAid helps with that. i also

learned that a couple can pass yeast to and fro with intimate relations -

perhaps you might want to check out yeast levels with your husband..... Hope

that this helps.

I have a friend with chronic yeast infections. One thing I remember that she

was told was to get an applicator like you get with monostat and use yogurt

in place of the monostat.

I can relate! Nothing was working for my last yeast infection, so in

sheer desperation I got some Oil of Oregano and some homeopathinc yeast/

fungus stuff. Drink tons of liquids too. It took about a week, but it did

clear up. Oh, stay off of sugar too.

I used to get yeast infections all the time about ten years ago. Then I

stopped wearing denim jeans, and switched from wearing pantyhose to

stockings for work. They stopped and never came back. I think there is

a lot to be said for air circulation! :-)

That and don't use scented tampons, pads or toilet paper. I've never gotten

one since I started avoiding those things at the advice of my doctor.

You might want to check out " The Yeast Connection Handbook " by

Crook Yeast can definately be passed from a mother to a baby at birth.

Yeast infections can make you feel sick all over and can cause, or at least

exaggerate a host of other conditions. As for the secretion thing... a

vaginal yeast infection manifests itself differently than thrush, a yeast

infection on a baby's bottom, or just having an overall " yeast problem " --

there isn't always secretion involved, even though they are all " yeast " . A

lot of people get a rash on their arms, legs, etc. which is just another way

it manifests itself. You can definately have yeast problems for years and

years ( I have and still do).

Have you tried high doses of vit. C? It seemed to help me.

Good Luck!

Olive Leaf Extract helps with yeast infection. I also give it to my
