Guest guest
Hi, Ann-Marie Birkies come in 2 widths. The wider ones are usually for men, but I take that cut since I have a wide foot. The foot/toes should fit inside the little contoured edge that goes all around. They look big, so people have a tendency to buy them too small. I guess the size conversion is correct. I take an 8 or 81/2 , and that translates to a 39, which is right for me. They have many different styles and several different foot beds. It really would be best to try them on. Maybe you can find a Birkie store near you by checking online. If not, then the Arizona style (two wide straps in front and none in the back) is the one I recommend, with the straps made of suede. My friend gets hers from QVC, and the prices there are good, I am told. I happen to have a Birkie store nearby, or I would try QVC also. She says they have a decent return policy also. If in doubt, go with the larger size I am told. Good Luck! BTW, I have worn virtually no other shoes since I found the Birkies in '92! And for extreme winter weather, I have a pair of Birkie innersoles that I put inside my boots. Oh, I do go on and on..... Take care Sunny > > > HI Sunny, > > I have always heard such good things about Birkies. Guest guest
Shoes that feel comfortable are not necessarily what is best for your foot. Birkenstock's don't offer ankle support for instance, so you are at much higher risk of an ankle injury. Abviously you want to be comfortable in your shoes and I'm glad you've found something that feels good to your feet, but an orthopod would likely disagree with the Birkenstock choice. Proper orthodics balance out your foot problems in a medically sound way that's appropriate for your specific foot. Any other shoes on the market are made for mass amounts of people. A person with flat feet for example, might say a certain brand feels better and in fact is maintaining the flat feet problem, not correcting it. Wearing the proper shoes can be more painful at first while your feet get used to walking in the correct position. That's just my 2 cents, I'm not a doc. I'd just hate to see you do more long - term damage. bug
