Guest guest
Dawn, I did have Zelnorm briefly, but it was not useful in my case. Zelnorm is recommended only for IBS with constipation, not IBS with diarrhea which was my problem at the time. Zelnorm works by stimulating spasms which I already had plenty of. My PCP at the time insisted I try it anyway, so I took a half pill and 4 hours later lost bowel control. Needless to say, I did not take it again. Zelnorm can be very good for constipation, I'm told, but I don't know if it takes time to work in those cases. For me, it took no time at all! Sorry I can't help more. I am now off all wheat/gluten and that cured the diarrhea---after 15 years! I have been on it twice a day for about 1 week and nothing. Did you have to increase the dose? Can you? Any thoughts would be appreciated. Sorry I haven't been keeping up with the group much, but things have been tough with the ex and with the kids. Guest guest
Dawn, I didn't get any drastic response from Zelnorm either. Yes, the dose can be increased. I was taking 12mg BID for awhile.
