Guest guest
, I was on Florinef for a couple of months last year for low BP. I think it helped a little, but not to the extent that the doctors wanted it too. Mine drops when I sit for any length of time, but pretty much normalizes when I stand. I had blood tests done, and while my minerals and hormones seem to be doing okay, my cortisol is on the low side, and my ACTH (pituitary gland) is out-of-range low. My Cardiologist (who wasn't happy that the endo did nothing about my low levels) put me on the med. It's usually given to people with 's disease, along with something like prednisone. Anyway.... it makes your kidneys retain sodium, which causes the BP to rise. It also dumps a lot of potassium. Someone asked me why I don't just eat a lot of salt, instead? I didn't have a good answer. But if I learn that it would be just as beneficial on raising my BP, I'd rather do that. I'm calling my endo tomorrow to see what she says about all this; but for now, I wondering if anyone here has had success, or problems, with this drug. Thanks, B
Guest guest
I tend to have low blood pressure, but also have high sometimes. Also I have a slow pulse (around 50 bpm often), so my cardiologist told me to add more salt to my food. I wasn't told to go on salt tablets - I don't know how someone would monitor increasing salt on their own (measure out an amount for each day?). My GI doctor told me to decrease salt, so I'm back stuck in the middle on salt intake (which for me was normally relatively low). Take care, RH > , > > You can try taking salt tablets first. Guest guest
You sound like me when I had my surgery April first, they had to delay my surgery as my BP spiked, when I came back my saturation level dropped drastically and if that wasn't enough I couldn't be released as scheduled as my BP bottomed out. My gastro and urologist both have me on a no salt/no sodium diet. Now with all the gastro problems I have to watch everything I east. I will know the results of my colon/esophageal biopsies the 30th, I just today called my PCp about my heart tests and they hadn't seen them but when I called back the results had been scanned into the computer when they came in and of course no one had looked at them. That is how Cotton-O'Neil works, anything that comes in their office even if it has a note to the doctor it " Does Not " get to the PCP it is scanned directly into the patients on-line chart and the doctor is unaware that it is there. I called this am about my heart tests and at first the nurse said nothing had been received, when I told her that they told me to check with my PCP last friday and when I had called then they knew nothing yet she said she would call me back. The results were with my on-line records so the nurse said she would print it off for my PCP and someone would get back to me with the results?? Thank goodness I will go back to my gastro doctor about my biopsy results. Thanks for letting me vent, Dolores ohgminion rakshasis@...> wrote: I tend to have low blood pressure, but also have high sometimes.
