Florinef (aldosterone) for low blood pressure

Hi,

Does anyone here take Florinef for their low BP? Mine drops when I

sit for any length of time, but pretty much normalizes when I stand.

I had blood tests done, and while my minerals and hormones seem to be

doing okay, my cortisol is on the low side, and my ACTH (pituitary

gland) is out-of-range low.

My Cardiologist (who wasn't happy that the endo did nothing about my

low levels) put me on the med. It's usually given to people with

's disease, along with something like prednisone.

Anyway.... it makes your kidneys retain sodium, which causes the BP

to rise. It also dumps a lot of potassium.

Someone asked me why I don't just eat a lot of salt, instead? I

didn't have a good answer. But if I learn that it would be just as

beneficial on raising my BP, I'd rather do that.

I'm calling my endo tomorrow to see what she says about all this; but

for now, I wondering if anyone here has had success, or problems,

with this drug.

Thanks,

B
