Toothpaste Sub?

We are having a big bad toothpaste problem. Davey (8 in April - and

big enough to be extremely hard to wrestle) will not tolerate anything

with any type of mint flavor. So we have tried Tom's Silly Strawberry,

he likes the flavor but we had a big salicyclate type reaction, we tried

the fennel, he doesn't like the taste - I even tried adding a touch of

stevia to some and then we had a reaction to the stevia.

I am looking for a homemade substitute that will encourage him to

at least chew on a toothbrush. Me brushing his teeth at best is 3-5

seconds of sheer hell (and little is accomplished during an all out

battle). He used to use AIM toothpaste and we could give him a

toothbrush 3 -4 times a day and he would chew it for 10 minutes. I have

gone back and done a trial with AIM after being on the diet 18 months

and he gets aggressive and short tempered - so he is reacting to

something in it...

Any ideas? I am sure there must be something I haven't thought

of that would taste good enough to encourage him with out being straight

sugar.....I am desperate.

,

When toothpaste can't be used at all, you can use a little hydrogen

peroxide diluted to half strength with water because it doesn't taste like

anything. To be extra safe, you could look for food grade H2O2 at a health

food store but I always used the drug store variety. If tolerated, a little

baking soda could be added too.

BTW, I have always detested mint myself so I can relate! Can't stand to be

in the same room with it.

, What are the ingredients, if you have a package? (and don't mind

typing them) I don't think I have ever seen it. I will definitely look

next week when I go to town. Thanks

was like this. I tried Peelu plain toothpaste. I don't like to use

it-there is no taste but everything else was too strong for him. We haven't

had a wrestling match since I switched.

This sounds like a candidate, too. Well, soon he will have a variety to

reject or to react to.....At least I feel like there are some more

options now. Thanks.
