Guest guest
Hi Trish, I don't have good advice, but this same thing just happened to my 5 yo NT daughter. She has wet the bed about 80% of the time since mid-December. We tried taking her to the toilet before we go to bed, but she would still wet. Is this a normal phase for some kids? I'm taking her to her doctor in a couple weeks to talk about this, rule out anything physical, discuss stress in five year olds, and anything else the list can come up with. Guest guest
Trish, Have you started any new supplements like omega's? A lot of parents to include us saw a regression in bedtime potty habits at first with the omegas, but it seems to work its way out in a few weeks. If you have not added anything, is there any way he is having infractions outside of the home that you are not aware of? > My almost 5 year old HFA son has been potty trained since June 99, > but all of a sudden (well it started 3months ago) he has started > wetting his bed at night. Guest guest
We have been having the same problem only he is a 9 yo ADHD boy. He has had trouble with constipation all his life. He is now on milk of magnesia because it was felt that the blockage in his bowels was pressing on his bladder causes him to be unable to hold it for very long. The doctor said this could take months to take care of. Betty ----- Original Message ----- > Hi Trish, > I don't have good advice, but this same thing just happened to my 5 yo NT > daughter. Guest guest
Both my kids(autistic and typical) wet the bed and pottied more when the weather turned cool for several years(summer was fine and then when fall hit-they both started having accidents.) I have friends who had the same occurrence. Just an idea. Ann
Guest guest
--- Betty, I think it took my son about 6 months to overcome the constipation- accident issue. The urines sometimes smelled like feces, it was horrible. In the past month, he has stopped with the day accidents, and now he is staying dry at night on a consistent basis. This is when I started to look a little bit at his diet. He didnt have this issue at 3 when he was trained, and had accidents just before becoming sick. Guest guest
My son is 8 years old and has never really stopped wetting the bed. A year ago prior to starting the gfcf diet, he might go as long as a month without bedwetting. Then he might wet the bed every night for a couple of weeks. When I learned there was a link between allergies and bedwetting, I was excited that he might stop once we eliminated the foods he is allergic to and started the gfcf diet. Well, instead of doing like every other kid on this diet, he started wetting the bed EVERY night! Then, once he slipped and had something with milk (which he is also allergic to) in it, he didn't wet the bed for three nights. I started him on the EnZymeAid and was hopeful, but there was no change with that either until we increased it to two capsules with each meal. He finally stopped wetting the bed, that is until he got sick then slipped on his diet again! No one so far has been able to explain to me why his bedwetting increased with the gfcf diet instead of decreasing. Prior to increasing the EnZymeAid, his doctor was talking about doing a sleep study on him. Connie
Guest guest
Yep, too; no bed wetting pre-diet, then it became a problem....She's eight. and nearing the one year on the diet anniversary. If she has a slip up now, though, the bed wetting becomes even worse. The only thing that seems to help is something in the Spectrum Support supplement she's been taking; it seems if I get it in to her on a regular basis, she has far fewer accidents. Maybe the magnesium? When she is not getting the supplement it is just amazing the quantity of pee she can produce overnight. Kathy
