Guest guest
, Here's something I actually feel I know something about! One of the most common kosher markings in the USA is the " ou " symbol that is a circle with the letter " u " in the center. This is a label that certifies a product kosher from an Orthodox (most religiously strict) perspective. Other reliable kosher markings include: Letter " K " inside a triangle or a star, or the letters " VH " one on top of the other. If there is a little " D " or " De " next to or just below the symbol, that indicates that there is dairy in there somewhere, even if only through the possibility of cross-contamination. Do not rely on just a plain " K " not enclosed by any geometric shape - it is a certification with much looser standards. Look for the symbol near the name of the product, or somewhere near the nutrition specificiations box. If there is a Trader Joe's near you, you will find that they provide a list of all their kosher products and that should help you identify them better. If there is anyone on this list that has every purchased or made a loaf of GFCF Challah, I would love to hear where or how! Myra

Guest guest
Myra, Thanks so much for the info. I just asked the list about chocolate. I see on the Hershey's Cocoa it says 100%cocoa and next to that there is the " o with the u inside " Wonderful! There is a recipe for perfectly chocolate chocolate frosting on the back that I will definetley try 1 stick margarine 2/3 cup hershey's cocoa 3 cups powdered sugar 1/3 cup milk (I'll use dairy free) 1 T vanilla extract Melt margarine, stir in cocoa, alternately add powdered sugar and milk beating on medium speed to spreading consistiency. Add more milk if needed. Stir in vanilla. (About 2 cups) Myra wrote: > > Here's something I actually feel I know something about!
