Guest guest
My son never chewed himself or his clothes before the diet, but started to about 9 months into the diet. I believe that when his body got used to no g&c it began reacting to something else when caused that reaction. I have an appointment with a DAN Doctor in April to try and find out what else is going on. Good luck & keep in touch. -Phyllis Is this just withdrawal? > My son has been GF since 21 January.....almost a month. We started tapering him off at the same time we went Cf in August of 2000. I am very careful to read ingredients of what I give him and pretty much make things from scratch for him. He has been hyper and talking fast, some aggressiveness and has been chewing on his sleeve and arm when he doesn't have a shirt on. He hasn't chewed on his arm for a year or more (he would leave marks before). There have been some changes at school one being they change bus drivers and aides several times a week, and the other being that we are asking for ABA and the teachers are starting to act a little on the cold side to me, don't know about my son. When my husband is around on the other hand they are as nice as they can be. Anyway....is this something that I could attribute to the withdrawal from the gluten, has anyone else had this happen to their kids? > > Judy > > >
Guest guest
Judy, Hang in there with the diet. You are likely to see alot of these behaviors and possible increase in aggression. Have you considered looking at other common allergens such as soy, corn, peanusts etc... it could be that you are now seeing reactions to other foods that he is sensitive to. The coldness about the ABA program is pretty commom. STAND your ground and don't take no for an answer. There are many studies that show that ABA is a very effective way to reach your child. As far as them being nice to your husband.... I think that this is very common as well. For some reason they get more intimidated by a man. That is why I always have my husband present at all IEP meetings. Leigh On Mon, 12 Feb 2001 20:35:19 -0600 " jcb " blystone@...> writes: > My son has been GF since 21 January.....almost a month. Guest guest
Yes...about 2 months of pure " heck " with my son... started sucking on his four fingers together in his mouth....sensory feedback issues. Looking for textures in his mouth...etc... gluten is said to take a full year to withdraw... then I realized that he got some through a product containing food starch...not stipulated as FOOD STARCH(CORN)... reference.... www.gfcfdiet.com they have updated some products that claim to be GFCF, however, can endure contamination while on the " assembly line " ... - In GFCFKids@y..., " jcb " wrote: > My son has been GF since 21 January.....almost a month.
