On eating dirt, paper, wood, etc. - we have found that our son does this when

he is having food allergy problems - usually as part of a gluten reaction,

but we are still investigating (he's doing it now). It includes, string,

paper, cardboard, sponges, cotton balls, and any number of things, and

usually corresponds with a lack of interest in most real food. If anyone has

more detailed experience with this, I would love to hear about your

experience, on the list or privately.
