Guest guest
Laurie, Under no circumstances do I consider myself a pro at vitamins, but there are several supplements available that were developed specifically for asd kids at www.kirkmanlabs.com However, we discontinued SNT after a month because of the onset of hand flapping and terrible insomnia (talking up from midnight to 6 every night). We are now considering a liquid children's multiple from Liquid Health. I have a asked their info e-mail if they are cf/gf and am waiting for a reply. It seems like they are, based on the list of ingredients. You can find them at www.liquidheathinc.com Hope this helps, Pat in Ohio
Guest guest
Not an expert, but here's what I did. I started with Kirkmans - good products and helpful staff. Then, using a standard children's multi- vitamin/mineral formula as a guide, I made up a chart showing the US Recommended Daily Allowance for kids my son's age. My basic notion was that I wanted to supplement to a level of 100%. More on the B vitamins and C was OK. I filled in the chart with the levels provided by the first Kirkman's product that I used, SuperNuThera powder. Then I bought products from Kirkmans and from my local grocery store (which has a GREAT health food section) to make up the deficits. Over time, this mix has changed as I learned more, got specific recommendations to supplement from Great Plains, our pediatrician, etc. I still update the chart whenever I make a change to his supplements because it helps me see the whole picture. FYI - we now use Special Needs Formula by the Herbal Pharmacist, Serenaid, Culturelle, DMG, folic acid, biotin, CoQ10, Iron, Calcium, Magnesium, Zinc, Selenium, vit E, vit D, Cod Liver oil, Borage Oil, Flax Oil, and MCT oil. We started about 8 months ago, and I target to add something or make a change every 2 weeks. On deck for us are glucosamine sulfate and taurine.
