Guest guest
Hi folks: I too am furious about last night's ER (I'll attach an email I sent to another group I belong to.) I think both NBC and need to hear from us. I'd like to ask folks not to just send an email, though. I've read repeatedly that networks only pay attention if they have an actual snail mail. A thousand emails and phone calls are not as important to them as one snail mail. I'm trying to find NBC's snail mail addy...if anybody can help with this, let's post it to the group so as many people as possible can write (while we're still outraged and angry). Personally, I'm done with ER. I was a big fan of the show until last night. I'm even more angry with (don't tell me the highest-paid actor in TV history couldn't influence the show's producers to have someone say ONE LINE in favor of a different opinion). I feel he's betrayed the millions of parents he's suppost to represent, and I'm writing to him to tell him just that. I am adding the email I mentioned above after my signature line. <--still PMSing; can you tell? Hi all: I've been searching the web for a phone number and address for NBC -- their main office. Can anybody help me find it, or know where I could look? NBC.com only lists an email, and that ain't gonna cut it. I know there are some other ER fans out there...did anyone see last night's episode? One of the subplots was of a 4-year-old boy brought in unconscious with fever. Turned out the child had measles, and that his parents had not vaccinated him. (Informational aside for newbies: My husband and I have two children -- Hannah, six and Collin, four, who both have autism. I believe vaccines caused the autism as they were normal before the vaccines and we have NO family hystory of autism. Therefore we have decided no more vaccines for our children.) What bothered me about this episode was not that they showed a child who had not been vaccinated and got a disease. Those of us who choose not to vaccinate know this is a real possibility, and one we have to weigh carefully when deciding about vaccines. What angered me was the absolute one-sidedness of every character on the show against the mother. Always on this show, there has been conflict between the characters, no matter what the subject. NEVER has there been such a united approach against something. NO one on the show, except the mother, who was understandably anguished, cited any opinion other than strictly pro-vaccine. It was like watching a slickly-produced propaganda film. Dr. shouted: " One out of 500 (people who get measles) dies! " I don't believe this, and I'd love to know where they get this figure. From the vaccine manufacturers? It's also mighty convenient that was able to pull that figure out of nowhere, since as they stressed measles is so rare now. He also scoffs at the mother's explanation that she researched vaccines on the web and was concerned about endangering his immune system (which is another theory of vaccine damage) and says " Vaccines *strengthen* the immune system! " Hello? We have far more autoimmune dysfunction since the introduction of vaccines. The mother mentioned the possible vaccine/autism connection and cut her off -- " There is no connection. " Oh, is he God now? He knows answers that nobody on this planet has? Another doctor (whose name escapes me) growls something about " rich people who think only the poor kids have to be immunized, until something like this happens and they're lined up at the door just begging us to jab their little darling's arm. " Plus, the doctors were universally cruel to the child's mother. She asked if her son was OK, and he says sarcastically " Yeah, he's great. " The kicker is that there was an advertizement for a new vaccine during the show. Might as well have had " Paid for by vaccine manufacturers " stamped on the show's credits. But the WORST thing -- the unforgivable part... is the celebrity spokesperson for CAN (Cure Autism Now). I know he's an actor and probably not completely in control of the show, but he is the highest-paid actor in the history of television, so don't tell me he couldn't have persuaded someone to insert ONE LINE with someone giving credit to the opposing view. Just have someone in passing ...the receptionist or one of the nurses...say something like " Hey, my cousin's kid got really sick after his MMR shot and now he has autism. " That would've at least acknowledged that there is a differing opinion. They do it all the time on the show. Anyway, the point of this email is still, can anyone help me find phone numbers AND snail mail address for NBC? Preferably while I'm still good 'n mad? Thanks a bunch,
Guest guest
> Write NBC. Complain to your congress and senatorial > representatives... vote with your money and turn off the TV. HECK organize > and lobby DC! Just do not get these actors turned off on supporting OUR > CAUSE. They are getting attention to autism. I do not think any actor > could stop an ad sponsor. I have worked in Hollywood. > > With love, > A Jeffs mom I am with - Don't bombard with mail - he is doing what he can for CAN and we don't want him to stop bringing high profile attention to our cause. I say we bombard the network and the show's producers with mail. They are the ones that need to hear our voices - they are the decision makers, they are the ones who have bowed to the pressure of advertisers - they are the people who we should focus our energy on.
