Guest guest
Cheryl, Hi, it has to be the hardest diet, I agree. As far as Kelloggs alot of their cereal is GFCF but all their ceral has the possibility of cross contamination due to the fact they produce No No items on the same line. I personally don't buy their products cause of this reason. There is a pretty good cereal put out by EnviroKidz that is totally GFCF- they have Gorilla Munchies that are shaped like Kix and they have a frosted flake cereal. I get them at Health food stores for about $4 a box. LJ likes the gorilla ones the best - even eats them dry. on Long Island New York ________________________________________________________________ GET INTERNET ACCESS FROM JUNO! Guest guest
I think we have to worry about cross contamination with Kellogg's corn puffs. It might not bother when you first get into the diet but it does later on as I found out with Malt-O-Meal gfcf cereal also has problems with cross contamination. if this grandma can do the diet, anyone can. I put off doing it for nearly two years because I did not think I could do it and I did not think Evan fit the model for kids that needed the diet. Now I could kick myself for not doing it sooner. it has helped him so much and I know that he would be doing better if I had started sooner. Someday, hopefully there will be more gf-cf free foods out there for our kids. Betty Mother to 30 yo with possible bipolar or clinical depression who is at home again. Guest guest
I had read that Kellogs Corn pops had a risk of cross contamination, made on the same line as other cereals. Beth

Hi, We like Nature Valley's Rice Crunch-ems. They look like Chex so the're good finger food, and as an added bonus, they're not sugared. I also use this cereal crushed for chicken nuggets, meat loaf filler, etc. I have called the company and they verified it is GFCF. Guest guest
I don't know about a cereal. I get a cereal my 2 year old son eats, " Gorilla Munch, " see www.envirokidz.com, but its made with cornmeal. My son likes waffles, he eats them cold. I cut them up, and leave them on the table, and he munches all morning. Its the recipe in Robin Ryberg's cookbook, page 39. The title is something like Gluten-Free Kitchen. She uses a flour mix that's half cornstarch and half potato starch, but for you, I would suggest substituting the cornstarch with tapioca flour. I make double batches and both my GFCF kids eat them every morning. (I add a little cinnamon to the mix.) Guest guest
Our Pediatrician said it was fine to start him on cererl, he is also on Zantac for his reflux. However Aidan also sees a Spicialist in " special needs babies or preemies " & he says absolutely not. Not until he's about 6mo old. The cerel just acts as a filler and doesn't have the nutrients & Iron in it like formula. He said if you want to fill him up increase his formula. Though he may be 4mo. he's really 2mo. Our Pedia tends to treat him as a normal term 4mo. old. Dawn-Marie dawnmarie2251@...> wrote:I have heard of that now that you mention it. I have done the buckle thing too. Husband did that a few months ago with our 2 year old. I turned to see what he was fussing about as we were backing out of the driveway and was trying to buckle himself in. Too cute, huh Husbands - - Our pedi told us not to fuss with cereal until 6 months. I have been told by others not to do the bottle thing with the cereal, not as nutritious as a feeding and a bottle. I breastfed my first until he was 7 months and is still on the breast at almost 5 months. But I have tried cereal with just to see because he is so big and always looking to eat and he wants no part of it. It is all trial and error. DM Hundley jenhundley@...> wrote: Oh no, poor thing. I was seconds I'm sure from having a heart attack last week when we got his shoes on. They showed me how to do it then took the shoes off and had me do it myself, all the while Aidan is screaming. We got the shoes on, baby in car seat and I was discussing the shoes with the orthotist and nurse about treatment, pain blah blah. I was so unnerved, it took me forever to get those suckers on. I walked down to the car carring the car seat and when I went to put the car seat in the base I realized I had never buckled him into the seat. OMG, I almost died. I thought one wrong move and he could have gone tumbling out of this thing. I was horrified at all the what-ifs!!! Additionally, I took him to his physical thearipist, the other day and we were discussing his diet. I mentioned we were putting rice in his bottle, his pediatrician said it was fine and he was ready at 4 mo. Well my physical thearapist said absolutely not. As a preemie, he's really only 2mo old and his digestive system isn't ready for that. So, actually I'm depriving him of nutrients by just adding the filler rice. She gives a workshop every Wed. with a nutritionist and a Specialty doctor who just works with preemies. I felt horrible as I felt like I wasn't feeding him enough. UGH. I'm not sure why God thought I was qualified for this. I've come to the conclusion life is trial and error as well as medicine!!! Here's to hoping we get through this in one piece! :-) Dawn-Marie are you a stay-at-home mom? I'm new to this whole stay at home thing. I have this reoccurring dream that I leave the children in the car when I am at the mall. It is terrible. I actually almost had a panic attack once because was not in the car seat when I looked back in the mirror, only to realize that I had left him home with daddy. Guest guest
oh my goodness! I have to admit, I put cereal in his bottle two days after bringing him home from the hospital. We increased it gradually so it was nice and thick around 2 months as he would only take one nipple and the hole was getting bigger...hehe! He did great with it and it was mixed with the same amount of formula that we would have given him without the cereal. So he was getting plenty of iron and vitamins. Because of all the problems we had and all the many months spent casting weekly plus surgeries, never took baby food from a spoon. He just wouldn't do it, so I started putting some in his bottle. He took a couple bottles that way, but then just stopped. He skipped over the whole baby food thing and went right to solids he could pick up. He had no issue with reflux. Just preferred the cereal, in fact he loved that so much and it filled him, he wouldn't drink a regular bottle ever again! My first? Eating from a spoon at 3 months and loved every bite! He had bad reflux in beginning, but he is also lactose intolerant so as soon as we switched formula, it stopped. Each kid is different and each doctor is different. It really doesn't matter what food you give him first or how much to be honest with you. Your baby will tell you what s/he is ready for . Listen to them. Good luck! > With me, I forgot my wallet at least three times and didn't notice till the > cart was full and in the check out line! Guest guest
Personally I think we rely too much on the doctor's adivce and too little on our own common sense with feeding our babies. In the natural world, when does an animal wean her baby off mother's milk? when it can eat on it's own. I never understood people being in a hurry to push solids. s Re: Cereal oh my goodness!
