On the Melatonin, between 1 and 3 milligrams, we worked up to 3, 4 out of 7 days a week he waking up around3 to 4 a.m. and would be awake ALL DAY LONG, like he has his full night sleep. The Melatonin totally screwed up his sleeping pattern. We took him off of it about 3 weeks into starting it and all was well again. I know Melatonin has a great track record for sleep, but not for my son. He would fall asleep within a half hour of taking it and then wake up raring to go. It was not good. Then after stopping it, he would sleep from about 9 until 7:30 - 8:00, like usual. So it may not be good for some kids. Good luck.
Guest guest
Be careful girls. A lot of these remedies cause opposite effects in children vs adults!!

Then switch the brand of MSM wait 1-2 weeks, then add melotonin, again wait 1-2 weeks, then slowly slowly add SNT. I'd agree with you the calcium should not have any affect, but give it in the morning so that it can't interfere with anything else. My son has never been able to tolerate SNT in any form. I'd suspect that it takes some a slow increase time to get them adjusted to it. You may not have it all down pat by your trip, unfortunately, but if you add one thing at a time and make one change at a time you will better be able to tell what the effect of each is. good luck alice
Guest guest
oh I missed this earlier.... zoloft may be a big part of this..... ssri's can be stimulating!!! Prozac killed my son's attention span and made him wired! Zoloft, when I took it, I had to take it in the morning. It is very stimulating, especially when you first start it. It takes two weeks to a month to settle into it. Good luck Alice
Guest guest
One thing to be sure of is that you are not giving her vitamin supplements like SNT (or any other) after 4PM. I have found that this will cause the child to be wired. In my son's case he would go down ok, but wake up in the middle of the night full of energy. a
Guest guest
Hi Tamara, I am sorry I can't address all of your message, but I just wanted to let you know that sometimes even something as seemingly simple as calcium can cause a reaction. It happened to us, and it took me a while to figure it out. I would say that as long as you are sticking to the diet, you are really moving in the right direction, and it won't hurt to slow down the supplements and really see what is doing what. Have a great honeymoon!
Guest guest
Tamara - Just to share an experience. My hubby and I both tried the SNT to see what it tasted like (yuck) and to just see how it felt. Well - both of us were up all night tossing and turning. So... we don't give our boy SNT any later than 1pm as a rule. The same goest for TMG (I don't know if you used that too) I know the impulse to to try to make up for lost time, but it really is better to go one thing at a time and track your results. Hang in there. Moira mom to Vico (almost 4 ASD) and Culzean (9.5 months)
Guest guest
Tamara, besides the fact that the SNT can keep her awake if given too late in the day MSM can also do the same thing if taken too late. Some people will not take it after noon. I know that I won't after spending too many night trying to get to sleep after taking it too late. It affects my dh the same way. it is considered a stimulate to some. Betty ----- Original Message ----- > It's 3 o'clock in the morning and we up and raring to go...well, one of us > is raring to go.
