Guest guest
It could be that the shoes are too big. It is good to know it isn't the others! Also look at the DBB tips and checklist. Guest guest
Carol, Are you 1000% sure her heel is seated firmly in the back and bottom of the shoes? You say they're as tight as they can get. I too thought they couldn't possibly go tighter but after I found out that I was indeed wrong about the heel seating down all the way (it was rising about 3-4mm) I found I got that buckle two whole holes tighter. And amazingly enough she stopped crying and started sleeping~! You have to bend the knee and dorsiflex the foot and really shove that heel back into the bottom of the shoe. Then hold the foot into the back of the shoe with your thumb and cinch the strap up tight. Pull on the heel and if it moves at all bend the knee again, dorsiflex the foot as far as it'll go and re-shove it right in there. Keep pressure on the strap and squeeze and try to tighten up the strap again. Keep doing that till the foot doesn't move anymore. Then you can tighten the laces nice and tight. Also, you may want to try elongating the tongue keeper slit so the tongue sits at or below the top edge of the boot so the fatty calf doesn't pull it out. You can get the ankle area tighter if the tongue is low like this. A more detailed description how to put these shoes on is in the DBB/FAB tips & tricks post I sent earlier today. If you're sure she's corrected and she's not atypical then I can pretty much assure you that the problem is with the heel not being seated well enough. Once you get the heel right down in there properly and they're tight, tight, tight the foot will not come out. If you can't solve the problem whatever you do you may want to cut a hole in the back of the heel so you can see if the heel is sitting right down on the sole. More of us than you know were surprised to find out that it wasn't down all the way when we swore up and down that it was. Hope this helps. Hang in there, it'll work out!
