Guest guest
Is she in mitchells? If so, Ihave a few suggestions, wear a thicker sock, punch some more holes in the strap, get a bigger width if none of the above work. but if you are not wearing mitchells...I have no idea, but i know a lot of others will have some ideas. > > > My 4 month old just got her DBB last week and is wearing it 23/7. > She is slowly adjusting to having them on. Guest guest
Carol, This same thing happened with my daughter. She would scream all night and the shoes never stayed on. It turned out her feet were not fully corrected and that is what caused her pain and her feet to slip out. First, are the shoes set at 70 degree rotation? Did you save her last casts? Check to see if the last cast also had a 70 degree rotation. You can use a protractor, or if the shoes are set at 70 degrees, you can hold them up to the casts and compare. (it is hard to describe). The last set of casts should be 70 degrees as the DBB. This is one way of checking the correction. If the feet were not rotated out to 70 degrees before she went into the DBB and the DBB is set at 70, this will cause extreme pain!!! Are there any blisters on her feet? Do you know how to check the dorsiflexion? That is hard to explain, but that is another factor that can cause the slipping. If all of the above is okay, maybe the bar length is incorrect. The bar should be equal to shoulder width. Lastly, you are the mommy and can sense if something is wrong. Do you think she is in pain, or is she just whining for attention. The cries would be different as we all know. Hang in there! We can help. Shook Retail Operations Manager/Baking Instructor Vie de France Yamazaki, Inc. 2070 Chain Bridge Rd. Guest guest
She had shoes put on last month but they would always come out. Every time we put one foot in and got it sercured and tried putting the other foot in to secure that one then the foot we just put in would come out. We found out that her left foot was not all the way corrected so they did the tendon release again and now both feet are at the 70 degree rotation. I just looked at the shoes and both are set as close to 70 as they are. We just changed the bar too because the other one was really small. Her dorsiflexion seems really good now that she had that second tendon release. Could her problem be that the shoes she is currently in are too big for her feet? She is barely a zero shoe size but they put her in a size 1 so that she had more room to grow than in a size zero. As for her crying I'm thinking she is just doing it to look for comfort and not because she's in pain. She goes all day long with no crying while her legs fly all over the place. Infact she just learned to roll over from back to front with the brace and shoes on so I know she's not in any pain. I'm just hoping that she gets used to these so that she can start sleeping through the night. She isn't wearing the mitchell brace just the gold bar that is not adjustable. Thanks for all your help. Carol, When my son got his shoes I mentioned that they seemed small and he didn't have much room to grow and he said you don't want them too big. He told me it was okay for his foot to grow to the point his toes were over the edge of the shoe before he should get new ones. Perhaps a smaller size would help her feet stay in. and bilateral clubfoot 11/10/03 dbb 23/
