I've often wondered about that medication.

He may have to have surgery in the future to correct it. Right now, we just have to do prophylactic antibiotics if he has dental work, etc., to prevent an infection in his heart. I'm diabetic and congenital heart defects are a higher risk in diabetic moms from what I understand.

He had complications and ended up with 3 surgeries. He is now 6 1/2 and has recently been diagnosed with high functioning autism. I don't know if there is any connection. Guest guest
What type of heart defect? They suspected my son had an atrial septal defect, but ended up deciding it was minor enough not to worry about it. > Besides having autism, my son also has a congenital heart defect.
