Birthday parties

Hi there.. Just need to vent .. I am sure many have you have been

there..

My son was invited to a Birthday Party (for another 3 year old..my son

wil be 3 in april) Parties are ALREADY a odd situation for me.. as he

never participates Most people know of his PDD NOS dx.. and expect him

to be doing something strange..(they seem to watch for stimming..)..HE

on the other hand always has a BALL (the most important thing)

...laughing, running..But the treasure hunt and the circle songs NEVER

impress him... So he is always running off.. during the time to sing

HAppy Birthday and the pinata and all that good stuff..

ANYWAY.. NOW with this diet.. One thing he DID join into previously was

the EATING of the cake and the pizza (or whatever is being served)

It hurt me so bad.. Becuase.. YES, it is a good thing he was so

overwhelmed with the jungle gym things that he didnt even MISS the pizza

(cause I made sure he didnt see it)..and that he had a FULL stomach..But

when it was time to sing Happy Birthday I WANT him to participate.. He's

never participated in his OWN birthdays .. so I want him to SEE and

learn.. So I bring him over to the BIRTHDAY table where they are singing

HAPPY BIRTHDAY..

And his eyes LIGHT UP..when he sees the cake.. What do you do? He's

been on the diet for only 3 weeks now..

It broke my heart.. I KNOW it is the best thing for him to be on this

diet.. (atleast we will see.. cause I have yet to see any MAJOR

difference..it is still too soon.)

And I WISH that I had a good substitute for the cake to bring to the

party.. (right now he is not only GFCF but EVERYTHING else free until

this week where his DAN allergist will allow us to add things in little

by little) So I couldnt even make a cake that would have COMPARED to

that beautiful cake with icing and sprinkles.. He would've known the

difference..So I pulled him to the side and we sat in the corner and ate

some Miss Roben snacks from home..

It didnt phase him as much as me I guess..

I just needed to vent..Let me know what you have done in these

situations.. and NOW I am thinking.. What am I going to do with HIS 3 yr

Bday party April.
