Guest guest
I'm sorry you had a long frustrating day. After this surgery you may want to have the anesthesiologist write a letter with a copy in your file in the hospital and one for you. I have to have the ET tube placed while I am awake and they need to use a very small one, so the gal who did my anesthesia, wrote this letterr. It will allow for a smoother procedure and a lack of fear for them to even try it. I'm not sure it would be accepted at another hospital or not. laurie > Well it didn't go as planned yesterday when I went for my pre-op testing. > Had to wait an hour to just get registered. Guest guest
I am sorry to hear of all the confusion and I definitely can empathize as when I had to go to Stormont a few months back I tried to tell the Topeka Transit driver that I did not go in the door where he insisted I go in as he was dropping another lady off at that door and didn't want to make a second stop for me. I wondered around as best I could until the Good Lord sent a girl I recognized, she had worked with my Grandson (Jeff) when he worked at Stormont and he introduced me to her the week before when he had taken me to Wal-Mart. I " toddled " over to her and told her who I was and she called someone from the right area to come over and take me to the far end on the other side of the hospital. It can take forever at admissions to fill out the paperwork, Jeff went to Stormont and picked up the papers I would need both times for me and that was a big help. My recent surgery took longer than expected due to my BP spiking and they had to wait until they got it down so as a result Jeff's friend who did my block was due for an epideral (sp) so he had to find another friend of Jeff's to stay in surgery with me in case the block started to ear off. Both were very nice to me and it was explained to me that the one that was to stay with me also was someone that Jeff approved of. He is very picky about anesthesiologists and finds one of his friends that he approves of and makes the arrangements himself. I see the Urologist tomorrow so perhaps he will be able to have some sort of idea about the swelling in my legs and feet. Then the Anesthesiology NP came into to speak with me. She was wonderful but by this time I was beyond spent and starving. After that appt I was sent across the hall for my EKG and Chest x-ray. That went relatively quick in comparison. By this time it was past lunchtime so we left and will have to return Mon for my labwork. In the meantime Haley (NP) called and said that the anesthesiologist I had requested for my surgery was unavailable due to working in Open Heart that day. Then it's a requirement of the hospital that you have to take the next day off. I've had to go with another anesthesiologist for my surgery. He is in the same group as the one I had requested, but I've never used this particular doc. before. We did talk to a physician who is a friend of ours and he said that both are good. The plan is now for the anesthesiologist here to call my anesthesiologist in Cleveland for instructions as well as my mito doc. to learn more about my condition. Haley was concerned about my shortness of breath and is going to see if I can get in with the new pulmonologist before my surgery. The other concern is my heart failure, but I'll be seeing my cardiologist on Mon. I'm pretty much worn out today, but at least I can rest. Thanks for thinking about me yesterday.
