Guest guest
My older son gets wacko when he eats chocolate and carob. I've tried the chocolate/zucchini muffin recipe posted awhile ago (and it was delicious), but my son got very silly after eating them. I tried replacing the cocoa with carob and he was the same way. I don't think he's reacting to the zucchini or anything I've been baking with. It's been very frustrating because he loves these, but I've just stopped making them. Right now, we're limiting all chocolate and carob in his diet and he's been much more relaxed as a result. ( & Malachi's mom)
Guest guest
<< My immunologist told me that molds are used at some point in the process of making chocolate, and to avoid it in my son's diet, as he's sensitive to molds. Molds as in 'the stuff with spores' or as in a container to hold it. Guest guest
I'm not sure about the phen & sal levels, but I have a " food family " list from a traditional allergist. In the peanut/soy family is: CAROB, alfalfa, black-eyed pea, common beans, licorice, mesquite, pea, soybean, tamarind. Does your child have a problem with peanuts or soy? Guest guest
Thanks for the info, Terri! He also gets hyper after eating fruit leathers, but I haven't noticed too much of a reaction with peanut butter. Ketchup is something of a problem, but doesn't seem to affect him as much as chocolate and carob. ( & Malachi's mom)
Guest guest
The fruit leathers and ketchup probably both contain corn syrup. You think maybe he is reacting to corn syrup? reacts horribly to corn syrup, very hyper and aggressive. > Thanks for the info, Terri! Guest guest
: My son eats plenty of other things with corn syrup and I've never noticed any particular reaction with corn in any form. I've been watching for reactions to corn, but it seems to be one of the things he doesn't react to (thankfully). Thanks for the input anyway.
