Guest guest
Liana, We see Dr. Herzenberg too! Christian was put in the DBB last Thursday (10/14). He was a side sleeper too and I was really afraid of how this was going to work out and believe me the first couple of nights were horrible but he figured out by himself how to turn his legs as if he was sleeping on his stomach and keep his top half of the body sideways. Did that make sense? Anyway, this just happened last night. I think he finally got used to the fact that the shoes weren't coming off. I hope this happens soon for you too. My son is being seen by Dr.Lamm & Dr. Herzenberg at Sinai Hospital. I drive from Pa. to see them. His tenotomy cast was taken off on Friday 10/15. He was just getting use to the cast and sleeping close to four hours at a time, now he's trying to adjust to the DBB. He's up every hour or so fussing. He has right club foot, and his first cast was put on in the nursery at Sinai, the day I was discharged from having him. Somehow he keeps getting his foot out of the shoe, I have made them tighter each time, although Dr.Lamm told me to break him in every couple of hours, I would rather him keep them on. he has been so use to sleeping on his side, and now he can't, so now we are back to being sleep deprived. Does anyone know how long it will take for him to get use to the DBB? Liana

Guest guest
Regarding your son getting his foot out of the shoe, my son had a similar issue (Right club foot). The problem was solved by putting a VERY thin cushion in the back of the shoe just above where his heel is. I would not suggest doing this yourself. Mine was fixed by the man I bought the shoes and DBB from. Once the cushion was in, the problem was solved. Regarding him adjusting to the shoes: my doctor used the following as a guideline: if he fussy but you can soothe him (by picking him up, a pacifier, etc.) then what he's experiencing is just as adjustment to the shoes. If he remains upset, even when you offer things that normally comfort him, then it may be that the shoes are causing him discomfort. You can try taking them off and you may want to call your dr. and have him take a look at the foot. Also, when he sleeps, try putting a small pillow, or a rolled up blanket under his feet. I found that keeping them slightly elevated made my son more comfortable. I hope this helps. Good luck. Guest guest
Hi everyone! I was just curious what DBB stands for. My son has only had the castings and orthopedic shoes so I was just curious. Thank you!
Guest guest
We had an informal " dictionary " going a few weeks ago. You can probably find it in the message archives. It was really helpful for all these terms & shorthand that get thrown around here! , mommy of: Guinevere, on, Ava 8/4/04 right CF DBB 23/7 > > Hi everyone! > > I was just curious what DBB stands for.
