Guest guest
try putting something under the head of the legs of the crib. Like some books or something to elevate the whole crib up just a little. kind of like a slight decline towards the feet. Think of the hospital cribs...if you have ever seen one, the whole mattress is tiltable. Just a suggestion if you are not comfortable with the pillow, also they sell mattress wedges, but putting something under the legs of the crib is a whole lot cheaper..as long as it is in a sturdy way. Guest guest
oh, duh you tried that already, sorry. Maybe try putting something under the legs of the crib to raise it and then something under the mattress towards his feet to elevate them slightly to prevent the sliding. Sounds dumb, but at the hospital, we often have to raise the feet with the head to prevent sliding down. \_/ Kind of puts the pressure on the back though. sorry, I didn't read your post well enough. Hope he feels better soon. Freeman

Guest guest
I would be nervous about the pillow. Have you tried rolling up a towel and putting it under the mattress. That might give him the incline that he needs. I have read that they should not get a pillow until they are in a toddler bed. I would guess that it has to do with the sides of the crib. gets double earinfections and we keep him in our bed on the pillow for the 1st 2 nights. After that he is usually good to go on his own routine. good luck, dm Gerace cgerace@...> wrote: Christian has a double ear infection and the croup (we spent 6 hours in the ER last night because they couldn't bring his 104.5 temperature down until 2:00 a.m.). The only way I can get him to sleep more than 15 minutes at a time (because of his sickness) is by raising him slightly. I tried to put something under the crib mattress but his whole body slides down. He is now sleeping in his crib with a pillow and I am a little scared that this may be a bad idea. He is 11 months old now and is able to stand up, crawl, etc.. Should I take the pillow out or do you think its okay to leave him on it? Guest guest
Can I ask what you give your kids for their ear infections? Drops? and if so, what kind? Guest guest
I don't know if this will work for you or not because of his size/age. When Breanna was little, still in the casts, only 1 month old she had phnemonia. The only way she could sleep was if she was sitting up a bit. Otherwise she couldn't breathe. I let her sleep in a carrier. You know, the carriers that are also car seats. She was very comfortable in it and slept very well. That you can really sit them up in by propping up the back of it a bit with something. No worries about them rolling over, not being able to breathe, etc. Him being 11 months he may be way too big for one though. Otherwise, what about a regular car seat? Just tip it back so he's not sitting straight up but still at an incline? Just at least until he doesn't need to be propped up at all. Hopefully this helps! Guest guest
Thank you everyone. I ended up putting him in bed with me on the pillow because it freaked me out way too much having him in the crib with it. Anyway, he is starting to feel a little better, I hope it isn't a nightmare now trying to get back to our old routine. Guest guest
We have some proper cot leg 'cups'. You put the end two legs in the cups and it raises the cot to the correct height that is needed for illness etc without putting anything in the bed. My sister gave them to me so am not sure where she got them but they are definately out there. I just left them on the legs all the time. Guest guest
That is interesting. I have never seen that, although, I never thought to look for such a thing. Next time I hit Babies R Us I am going to have to see if they have it there.
