Hi Celia,

Yes, I had a Thalium test done. I also couldn't perform the excerise tolerance

test. It is a reasonable test to have, and they do alot of these.

They inject you with a substance that increases your heart rate and then they

take pictures of your heart and how it is reacting to the increased heart rate.

It's not a big deal and they have plenty of people nearby to help in case of an

emergency. It is a little uncomfortable when they get your heart rate up that

high, but it doesn't last long and I had them give me something to counter-act

the effect and slow my heart rate back down before leaving.

Hope this helps!! Good Luck

Hugs, Ann-Marie

Thalium test

Instead of referring me for an exercise tolerance test my doc is

referring me for a thalium test, since I can't perform much in the way

of exercise. has anyone had one of these. is this a reasonable test to

be doing? Thanks, Celia

Just a side note on my experience. I didn't have the scan, just the

drug induced stress test, but the drug made me very sick after. Not to

be gross, but I was alone and had to stop several times on the side of

the road to vomit. It also made me very dizzy. If you didn't plan to

take a driver, you may want to, just in case. YMMV.

Hi ,

sorry that you got so sick from the drug they used. I know that when I went,

they asked if I had anyone with me and I said Yes my husband, but they actually

wanted to see the person. So at this hospital they were pretty strict about

their policy.

I was warned that there was a possibility that I could end up with a major

migraine due to the substance they use to increase the heart rate. I did get a

migraine, but was able to handle it.

So listen to , it is a good idea to take someone along with you in case

you end up sick afterwards like she did.

Hugs,

Ann-Marie

Celia

They put in a dye and scanned by heart - I think size and blood flow. They

then did the chemical stress test and gave me something to neutralize that

and then gave me more dye and with another scan. On this they could tell

that the return of the blood to the front of the heart was very delayed.

Sorry, but I don't know what is was called. If I can find my report, I will

let you know.
